Shelter Monitor (3rd Shift)

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Shelter Monitor is responsible for overseeing shelter operations during the overnight shift ensuring the safety security and well-being of residents. This role supports a positive living environment by upholding shelter policies providing guidance and supervision and assisting residents with access to community resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain the security and safety of residents facilities and grounds.
• Supervise residents to ensure order harmony and compliance with shelter rules.
• Share information on available community resources with residents.
• Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors staff and residents.
• Assign and oversee resident cleaning chores.
• Reinforce shelter policies fairly without discrimination or favoritism.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and contact supervisors as needed.
• Maintain professional boundaries with residents.
• Prepare meals as needed.
• Support The Salvation Armys mission policies and confidentiality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide direction to residents volunteers and interns during assigned shifts.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 12 years of experience in human services or working with diverse populations.
• Completion of required training within designated timeframes.
• Valid drivers license.
• Ability to prepare meals for groups of 3040 people.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
