Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day responsibilities of this position:

• Processing specimens for laboratory analysis
• Performing molecular and serological based assays
• Perform necropsy of animals for Rabies testing
• Performing test validations
• Drafing writing and/or updating SOPs and grants
• Evaluating quality control and performing corrective actions
• Performing instrument maintenance
• Troubleshooting interfaces between laboratory equipment and laboratory information systems.
• Monitoring testing processes for accuracy and timeliness
• Communicating with Epidemiologists and local partners.

Qualifications

Minimum or day-one qualifications:

• Bachelors of Science degree in Biology Clinical Laboratory Science or related field or 4 years of closely related experience.
• Previous experience working in a clinical or research lab
• Previous experience with PCR
• Good Communication Skills
• Pass a criminal background check
• Must meet CLIA education requirements for testing personnel in high complexity testing labs.

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:

• Bachelors of Science degree in Biology Clinical Laboratory Science or related field
• Previous experience in performing immunoassays
• Previous experience in performing Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
• Basic knowledge of Molecular Biology
• Basic knowledge of Medical Microbiology
