Job Summary
- Job Responsibilities
- Under the direct supervision of the Shift Lieutenant ensures the Central Bus Terminal operation meets daily objectives completely and follows agency policies and procedures.
- Provides direction and Instruction to inmates and/or Correctional Officers in a program of discipline safety security and rehabilitation of inmates.
- Provides proper instruction on use of keys firearms chemical munitions and restraining equipment when necessary.
- Instructs and counsels inmates as required.
- Monitors inmate movement within the confines of the Central Bus Terminal.
- Provides safe transport of inmates in all custody levels on PCR Medical Transfers Parole and Extradition routes (male and female).
- Safe keepers (SK) and Special Management Unit (SMU) inmates are also transported.
- Makes and uses good supervisory judgment and decisions when transporting inmates.
- Serves as Lieber Correctional Institution Bus Route.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelors degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and eighteen (18) months experience in correctional security military or police work.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for 1/2 of required experience.
Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
Requires possession of a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within six (6) months of entry into the position.
