Summary:
The Senior Validation Technician supports calibration verification and testing activities for electronic dosimetry equipment within an NVLAP-accredited laboratory environment. This role involves performing functional testing troubleshooting and maintaining accurate documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards and accreditation requirements. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills attention to detail and experience working with electronic instrumentation or calibration processes.
Responsibilities:
- Perform calibration verification and functional testing of electronic dosimeters and radiation detection instruments.
- Execute testing procedures in compliance with NVLAP accreditation and internal quality standards.
- Review instrument performance data and accurately document calibration results.
- Maintain calibration records service documentation and traceability requirements.
- Assist with troubleshooting inspection and minor repairs of dosimetry equipment.
- Verify equipment meets operational specifications and customer requirements prior to release.
- Support audits proficiency testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain laboratory organization cleanliness and equipment readiness.
- Follow all radiation safety EHS and quality compliance procedures.
- Communicate testing progress nonconformances and technical issues to supervisors and engineering teams.
Required Skills:
- Associate degree in electronics engineering technology physics or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 1 year of experience with electronic test equipment instrumentation or calibration environments.
- Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Basic computer skills including data entry and record management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel Access PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in ISO/IEC 17025 or NVLAP-accredited laboratories.
- Familiarity with radiation detection or dosimetry equipment.
- Knowledge of calibration methodologies traceability and quality systems.
- Experience in electronic troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Strong communication skills.
- Laboratory and technical service setting.
- Handling of sensitive electronic instrumentation.
- Use of PPE and adherence to radiation safety protocols required.
- Occasional lifting of equipment may be required.
