Position Summary
Seeking a Senior Unix/Linux Platform Engineer to support and enhance mission-critical enterprise applications in a high-availability environment. This role is responsible for platform reliability automation CI/CD production support performance optimization security and incident management across the full software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and improve reliability availability and performance of Unix/Linux-based production systems.
Build and manage CI/CD pipelines release automation and deployment processes.
Develop automation solutions using Bash Python and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
Lead incident response efforts including troubleshooting root cause analysis remediation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Implement monitoring logging dashboards and alerting using observability tools.
Perform capacity planning system tuning and performance optimization.
Manage security-related activities including patching vulnerability remediation and certificate management.
Collaborate with development QA business and infrastructure teams to deliver application enhancements and production releases.
Create and maintain technical documentation runbooks and operational procedures.
Participate in on-call support and change management activities.
Support disaster recovery testing vendor integrations and platform resilience initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or related field (or equivalent experience).
8 years of experience supporting Unix/Linux platforms in production environments.
Strong experience with RHEL AIX or Solaris.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD.
Proficiency in Bash Python and automation/configuration management tools (Ansible Puppet or Chef).
Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
Knowledge of messaging technologies such as IBM MQ Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Solid understanding of networking DNS load balancing TLS/PKI and certificates.
Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Splunk ELK Prometheus Grafana AppDynamics or Dynatrace.
Strong troubleshooting production support and incident management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or operational excellence experience.
Containerization and orchestration experience with Docker Kubernetes or OpenShift.
Knowledge of security hardening standards and secrets management.
Experience in regulated or highly controlled environments.
Exposure to microservices API gateways and event-streaming technologies.
