About the Role:
We are seeking an accomplished and results-driven Senior Trial Attorney to join our growing Personal Injury Litigation team in Houston Texas. In this role you will take ownership of a sophisticated docket of motor vehicle accident cases primarily involving commercial vehicle and catastrophic injury matters. You will manage cases from litigation through trial working closely with clients experts litigation staff and fellow attorneys to maximize case outcomes and deliver exceptional client service.
This position is ideal for a trial attorney who enjoys courtroom advocacy strategic case development leadership opportunities and the ability to influence the growth and success of a dynamic litigation practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a litigation docket of approximately 50 75 active personal injury cases.
- Oversee an additional portfolio of pre-litigation matters in collaboration with litigation case managers.
- Serve as first-chair or co-chair trial attorney in jury trials.
- Independently handle complex personal injury matters from litigation through verdict or resolution.
- Develop case strategies trial themes and litigation plans designed to maximize recovery.
- Draft review and argue motions pleadings discovery and other litigation-related documents.
- Conduct depositions of parties fact witnesses corporate representatives and expert witnesses.
- Prepare and defend clients throughout all phases of litigation including depositions mediations and trial.
- Collaborate with experts to investigate liability damages and causation issues.
- Coordinate inspections evidence preservation and case-development activities.
- Identify high-value litigation opportunities and develop strategies to increase case value.
- Lead settlement negotiations mediations and settlement conferences.
- Evaluate settlement offers and provide strategic recommendations regarding trial versus resolution.
- Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case strategy expectations and progress.
- Partner with intake teams associate attorneys and legal staff to evaluate and develop cases.
- Mentor and support associate attorneys and litigation personnel.
- Ensure matters progress efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of client service and advocacy.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
- Minimum 10 years of personal injury litigation experience with a strong focus on motor vehicle accident cases.
- Significant jury trial experience required.
- Proven ability to independently manage complex litigation matters.
- Strong deposition motion practice mediation and trial advocacy skills.
- Excellent legal writing analytical and oral communication abilities.
- Strong negotiation and case valuation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple high-value matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
