What Youll Do
Lead the Future of Transmission Planning! Youll serve as one of MISOs strategic leaders focused on identifying emerging transmission planning challenges and developing long-term solutions that strengthen grid reliability and enable the energy transition.
Key responsibilities include:
Evaluate how emerging trendsincluding inverter-based resources (wind solar battery storage) distributed energy resources electrification and large load growthwill impact long-term transmission planning.
Assess evolving reliability risks resource adequacy challenges grid stability concerns and the effects of extreme weather on future system performance.
Identify gaps in current planning processes analytical tools planning criteria and industry practices.
Develop innovative recommendations that improve transmission planning methodologies and support future grid reliability.
Perform technical evaluations of complex transmission planning issues using engineering judgment and power system analysis.
Help shape planning strategies that support reliable efficient and cost-effective expansion of the bulk electric system.
Translate technical findings into actionable recommendations that influence enterprise strategy and executive decision-making.
Monitor emerging technologies regulatory developments and industry trends to ensure MISO remains at the forefront of transmission planning innovation.
Beyond technical leadership youll help turn long-term vision into measurable action by:
Developing strategic roadmaps priorities and implementation plans.

What Youll Bring

Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Engineering Economics Public Policy Business Administration Applied Mathematics or related discipline.
10 years of experience across several of the following areas:
Transmission planning
Electric utilities RTOs or ISOs
Competitive electricity markets
Regulatory and legislative frameworks
Emerging power system technologies
Grid modernization

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $165000-$175000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors including but not limited to location of the role individual competencies education/professional certifications and qualifications/experience.
