Senior Systems Administrator (PACS)
Job Summary
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Radiology is seeking a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) Senior Systems Administrator. This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration and operational support of PACS including image workflow archiving auto-routing diagnostic viewing workstations prefetching and other core imaging system functions. The role requires advanced knowledge of radiology workflows DICOM imaging standards interoperability and end-user support to ensure reliable high-quality imaging operations.
The PACS Senior Systems Administrator works closely with imaging teams across multiple departments to ensure the accurate capture storage and availability of diagnostic-quality images within the enterprise PACS environment providing reliable access to imaging systems 24 hours a day 365 days a year. This position also coordinates PACS support during facility go-live activities integrates image processing and third-party applications into the PACS architecture and serves as the primary support contact for orthopedic templating applications. The successful candidate will independently troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues collaborate with Radiology field service engineers and lead efforts to resolve image acquisition storage and system integration challenges to support exceptional patient care and clinical operations.
- Conducts analysis and design of complex enterprise Radiology IT configurations
- Implements IT integration across multiple Radiology imaging platforms.
- Supports departmental process improvement initiatives; Implements solutions that meet HCIS information protection requirements.
- Performs complex configuration and implementation of organization-wide Radiology IT solutions.
- Ensures integration between related systems and adherence to all security requirements.
- Maintains documentation for all completed projects and deployed applications
- Assists with developing project plans and phases
- Participates in vendor discussions related to RFI and RFP processes
- Maintains and monitors complex organization-wide application deployments
- Participates in on-call responsibilities for complex and routine issues
- Seeks opportunities to improve and streamline customer and application support processes
- Coordinates regularly with the hospital IT department
- Develops scripts to improve the management and support of Radiology IT systems
- Coordinates with vendors to develop system deployment strategies
- Collaborates with key stakeholders across the organization including physicians clinical staff and vendor support teams
- Leads project teams within the PACS division under the direction of the Team Manager
- Provides mentorship and assists in the development of new PACS team members.
- General supervision is received from the Manager of PACS and Image Support Systems
Administrative and functional supervision exercised over PACS Team during assigned project implementation.
