Senior Staff Backend Engineer

THE OPPORTUNITY

A portfolio of AI-native and data-intensive startups is hiring backend engineers to build the reliable systems data models and infrastructure behind rapidly scaling products.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Design and build resilient backend services APIs data models and asynchronous workflows.
• Own business-critical systems from architecture through deployment monitoring and incident response.
• Improve performance reliability security and developer velocity as products scale.
• Build clean interfaces around complex data and third-party integrations.
• Partner with product and customer-facing teams to prioritise high-impact technical investments.
• Mentor engineers and help establish practical engineering standards.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Substantial production backend engineering experience with Python Go Java Rust or similar.
• Strong fundamentals in system design databases distributed systems and API development.
• Experience operating cloud-based services and diagnosing performance or reliability problems.
• Track record of owning complex projects with limited oversight.
• Pragmatic judgment strong debugging skills and an ability to communicate trade-offs clearly.

PREFERRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL

• PostgreSQL event-driven architecture queues or workflow orchestration.
• AI/ML platform LLM infrastructure or high-volume data-processing experience.
• AWS GCP or Azure; Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code exposure.
