Job Summary

Requirements

Performance Senior accountants are expected to:

  • Accept all responsibility for routine engagements. These responsibilities will include delegation of work to lower-level staff supervision of lower-level staff and any other decisions relative to the work performed.
  • Maintain good communication with lower-level staff to make sure all work is being performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain communication with supervisors managers and partners to ensure the work-process is continuing in an organized efficient and professional manner.
  • Begin developing relationships with clients and handling routine responsibilities and engagements while targeting subjects which should be discussed with superiors.


Assignments: Senior accountants are responsible for some portions of regular engagements with little supervision.

Duties may include the following:
  • Supervising staff on engagements including delegation of duties
  • Participating on several engagements simultaneously
  • Handling written correspondence with minimal supervision.

Professional Development: Senior accountants are expected to develop professionally by:

  • Actively pursuing CPA certificate.
  • Demonstrating ability to sell new services to existing clients and to begin to attract new business to the Firm
  • Taking an interest in administrative activities: staff evaluations performance reviews recruiting and developing office policy
  • Working with management on in-house training programs including CPE and other presentations
  • Continuing participation in civic events while continuing to reflect Firm image and to attract new business
  • Working with supervisor manager or partners on assigning work to staff accountants
  • Demonstrating some leadership of staff accountants.



Required Skills:

Performance Staff accountants are expected to: Expectations: * Complete tasks assigned to them. Tasks will be assigned based on experience. * Identify problem areas in the engagement that need to be discussed with the person assigning the task. * Develop efficient work habits. Work must be accurate organized and timely. * Practice effective communication when completing all tasks. * Recognize how assigned tasks affect the final work product (i.e. consolidated tax return). * Follow regulations and professional ethics of the AICPA and the state society. * Keep current on all professional pronouncements such as SFAS and SAS. * Maintain confidentiality of the Firm. * Behave professionally. * Follow firm procedures and comply with Firm policies as outlined in the personnel manual. * Identify problems early in engagements and deal with such problems in a timely and efficient manner. * Handle multiple tasks simultaneously accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision while still meeting deadlines. * Accept increasing responsibility for engagements business correspondence and some research with little input from the supervisor manager or partner. * Make basic decisions regarding routine work without supervision. * Begin developing client relations through routine engagements keeping in mind the need to bill additional services and to attract new business to the Firm.


Required Education:

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance is necessary with a CPA
