Essential Job Duties

  • May take dictation by use of Dictaphone or other transcription equipment involving generally used business technical or legal terms and expressions.
  • May transcribes shorthand notes to a prescribed form in accordance with accepted rules of punctuation grammar and spelling.

  • May include copy typing from notes typed or printed copy and form typing.
  • Will compose letters as directed.
  • Collates completed reports with associated papers and attachments.
  • May post and maintain records associated with work assignments and resulting production.
  • Maintains an accurate filing system.
  • Keeps a diary of pending correspondence and events. Reviews outgoing correspondence for quality and format in accordance with established policy.
  • Schedules meetings and appointments and handles routine paperwork.
  • Routes and distributes mail within the department/division.
  • Answers questions on routine information from the supervisor and employees in own organization but may extend to employees in other organizations.
  • Takes conference dictation as required.
  • May ensure accurate and neat files records postings and suspense systems as assigned.
  • Notifies supervisor of pending appointments and coming events.
  • Ensures accurate release of information within scope of assignment.
  • Responsible for security of privileged official and classified information.
  • Coordinates with others in the organization and answers questions involving routine information.
  • Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal State Department of Energy (DOE) Corporate and Plant rules regulations Labor Agreements and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Required to attend and/or successfully complete training classes as determined by the Training and Development Technologies Department through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2) and Management.
  • Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
  • Understands a workers right to stop work when they feel their own or others personal safety is jeopardized.
  • Attends all required safety meetings and training. Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment

Skills and Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform all duties and functions outlined above.
  • Must meet initial employment requirements.
  • Must be able to read write and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions.
  • Must be physically fit to perform the above job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation.
  • Must pass Company typing (50 wpm).
  • Must have two years of related experience.
  • Ability to comprehend the general import of dictation received and to apply established rules of punctuation spelling and grammatical construction adequate to producing satisfactory final transcripts of letters reports conformance with established Company standards of letter form.
  • All qualifications work history training and education are to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof. Ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation.

Notes

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Requires Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification. If the successful candidate is not currently certified in the HRP the certification process will be initiated upon assumption of the position. If the successful candidate is currently certified in the HRP a review for HRP certification in the appropriate category will be performed by the hiring manager and the HRP Management Official and the certification process in the appropriate category will be initiated upon assumption of the position
