Serves as a senior data analyst supporting the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Safety and Occupational Health (ODASW(SOH)). The Senior SOH Data Analyst will play a critical role in supporting ODASW(SOH) by documenting business requirements collaborating with developers on system designs testing system and data changes analyzing complex datasets and producing clear actionable briefings for leadership. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical teams and business users lead projects and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety and occupational health systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect clean interpret and analyze data for new and ongoing safety and occupational health (SOH) projects and studies.
  • Document business and system requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Design and test complex data analytics systems.
  • Create data visualizations that clearly communicate and drive data-driven processes.
  • Conduct analytical report writing for presentations and policy memoranda.
  • Develop statistical research designs that create a synthesized strategy for both data collection and analysis for a DoW leadership audience.
  • Work closely with developers to design and implement system enhancements.
  • Test system and data changes to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Conduct data analysis using Excel and SQL to identify trends troubleshoot issues and support decision-making.
  • Translate data findings into actionable business insights and develop briefings for leadership.
  • Lead and manage projects as assigned ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Train users and develop system documentation and user guides.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance quality and security standards.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support the continuous improvement of safety and occupational health data systems.
  • Prepares senior-level responses to congressional inquiries media requests DoW Inspector General reviews and Government Accountability Office findings related to SOH and Occupational and Environmental Health (OEH).


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Public Health Statistics Computer Science Information Systems Business Analytics or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience as a business and/or systems analyst.
  • Proficiency in requirements documentation.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and SQL for data analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business users.
  • Experience training users and creating system documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights and communicate results effectively.
  • Understanding of data governance data quality and data security principles.
  • Excellent critical thinking attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Tableau or similar platform.
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus.

  • Advanced degree in related field
  • Knowledge of safety systems
