Job Summary

POSITION OVERVIEW

Our client is seeking a Senior Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer to take ownership of mechanical integrity and reliability performance across critical refinery machinery systems.

This is a high-impact hands-on technical leadership role focused on improving equipment reliability preventing failures and driving measurable reductions in loss of primary containment (LOPC). You will partner closely with Machinery Inspectors Operations and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues in real time while also shaping long-term reliability strategy across the facility.

The equipment scope is broad and mission-critical including pumps compressors turbines gearboxes fans and blowers. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of field troubleshooting deep technical analysis and long-range reliability improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support and reinforce a Goal Zero safety culture focused on rotating equipment integrity and LOPC reduction
  • Partner with Machinery Inspectors to troubleshoot equipment issues and provide clear actionable engineering solutions
  • Lead and participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and risk investigations to eliminate recurring failures
  • Evaluate equipment performance and develop short- and long-term reliability strategies including capital and turnaround input
  • Identify and resolve bad actor equipment through engineered solutions redesigns and maintenance strategy improvements
  • Develop and refine operating and maintenance procedures for rotating equipment systems
  • Initiate and support Management of Change (MOC) processes for equipment modifications and upgrades
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for machinery troubleshooting monitoring and operability challenges
  • Review and approve repair scopes and provide technical oversight for vendor and specialty repair shops
  • Support condition monitoring and performance analysis activities including vibration efficiency and mechanical diagnostics
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10 years of experience in refinery petrochemical or heavy industrial rotating equipment reliability design or maintenance
  • Strong understanding of API ANSI and ASME codes and standards
  • Proven experience with RCFA bad actor elimination and reliability improvement programs
  • Hands-on familiarity with rotating equipment such as steam turbines centrifugal and positive displacement pumps and compressors seals and lubrication systems
  • Experience with vibration and condition monitoring tools (e.g. Bentley Nevada System 1 SKF Windrock)
  • Working knowledge of machinery performance diagnostics (pump/compressor efficiency vibration hydraulic analysis)
  • Comfortable supporting field troubleshooting and participating in on-call mechanical support rotation
  • Willingness to support extended hours during turnarounds outages and major maintenance events
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder)
