Job Summary
JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Risk Control Consultant serves as a trusted advisor to clients helping identify evaluate and mitigate operational safety regulatory and liability exposures. This role partners with clients carriers claims professionals producers account executives and account management teams to reduce loss frequency and severity improve workplace safety strengthen compliance programs and support overall risk management strategies.
The consultant plays a critical role in client retention revenue protection and account growth by delivering technical safety program assessments OSHA compliance guidance carrier inspection support and proactive loss prevention recommendations. Acting as both a subject matter expert and client advocate the Senior Risk Control Consultant conducts high-hazard risk engineering evaluations supports carrier inspections and underwriting reviews and develops actionable recommendations that help clients maintain safe compliant and insurable operations.
This position serves clients across a diverse range of industries including but not limited to construction warehousing and distribution manufacturing transportation and fleet operations commercial real estate commercial laundry and linen services hospitality and other complex operational environments. The role is instrumental in protecting key client relationships supporting renewal success reducing operational risk and delivering measurable value to both clients and the organization.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Risk Assessments & Consulting
- Conduct facility inspections operational reviews and job-site assessments to identify hazards operational deficiencies and loss drivers.
- Evaluate workplace exposures safety programs and risk management practices across diverse industries including construction warehousing manufacturing transportation and commercial linen and laundry operations.
- Perform technical safety program gap analyses and high-hazard risk engineering evaluations.
- Assess operational risks related to material handling machine guarding fleet operations fall protection lockout/tagout procedures ergonomics powered industrial trucks chemical exposures and industrial equipment.
- Evaluate carrier recommendations regulatory requirements and operational exposures to develop practical mitigation strategies.
- Perform loss trend analysis and identify opportunities to reduce claim frequency and severity.
- Develop customized risk reduction strategies corrective action plans and actionable recommendations.
- Provide consultative guidance to clients on emerging risks industry best practices and operational improvement opportunities.
Safety & Loss Prevention
- Design implement and evaluate safety and loss control programs.
- Conduct hazard assessments behavior-based safety reviews and workplace safety evaluations.
- Assist clients with safety committee development and safety program enhancement.
- Support fleet safety ergonomics return-to-work injury prevention and incident management initiatives.
- Develop and monitor corrective action plans to address identified risks and carrier concerns.
- Review safety performance metrics and recommend strategies to improve outcomes.
- Partner with clients to improve safety culture employee engagement and regulatory compliance.
- Facilitate accident incident and near-miss investigations to identify root causes and preventive measures.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Advise clients on OSHA regulations workplace safety requirements and loss prevention best practices.
- Review safety manuals policies written programs procedures and recordkeeping practices.
- Monitor regulatory changes and communicate compliance requirements to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support audits carrier inspections regulatory inspections and corrective action planning.
- Serve as a client advocate during carrier inspections risk assessments and underwriting reviews.
- Assist clients in addressing compliance deficiencies and underwriting concerns.
- Recommend operational and procedural enhancements to improve regulatory readiness and reduce liability exposures.
Training & Education
- Deliver client training programs workshops and safety meetings.
- Provide supervisory and management training focused on injury prevention hazard recognition and risk management.
- Develop educational materials toolbox talks safety communications and best-practice resources.
- Facilitate employee safety orientation and ongoing safety education initiatives.
- Promote risk awareness accountability and a culture of workplace safety and compliance.
- Support clients in developing sustainable safety leadership and training programs.
Claims & Risk Analysis
- Review claims data OSHA logs incident reports loss runs and carrier feedback.
- Identify trends root causes emerging risk patterns and opportunities for intervention.
- Partner with claims teams carriers third-party administrators (TPAs) and client leadership to improve loss outcomes.
- Support accident investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Provide strategic recommendations to improve claim performance and reduce total cost of risk.
- Assist in evaluating reserve trends frequency drivers severity indicators and loss development patterns.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as a strategic risk management advisor to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with producers account executives account managers carrier partners and external vendors.
- Support retention of key accounts through proactive consultation technical expertise and responsive client service.
- Partner with producers and account executives to support prospect opportunities strengthen client retention and differentiate Venbrooks risk management capabilities.
- Present findings recommendations and risk management strategies to client leadership teams.
- Assist service teams with carrier recommendations renewal strategies underwriting concerns and risk improvement initiatives.
- Partner with clients to address operational challenges before they impact renewals carrier relationships or business performance.
- Maintain strong client relationships while supporting growth retention and revenue preservation objectives.
- Represent the organization as a trusted expert in risk control safety management and operational risk mitigation.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of workers compensation general liability fleet safety OSHA regulations industrial safety practices and loss prevention methodologies.
- Experience conducting facility inspections job-site audits carrier inspections risk engineering assessments and claims/loss analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex and high-hazard operational environments and develop practical risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience supporting client retention renewal performance and carrier relationship management through consultative risk management services.
- Excellent communication presentation relationship management training and client consulting skills.
- Ability to travel to client locations conduct onsite evaluations and effectively manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in Risk Management Occupational Safety Environmental Health Industrial Hygiene Engineering or a related field preferred.
- 710 years of risk control loss control workplace safety industrial hygiene risk engineering or risk management consulting experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting clients in industries such as construction warehousing and distribution manufacturing transportation commercial laundry and linen services hospitality real estate or other high-hazard operations.
- Professional designations such as CSP ARM CRM CIC OHST CHST ASP or similar credentials are preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
