Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a highly experienced Senior Remediation Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical leadership and strategic guidance for complex environmental remediation projects supporting clients in the oil & gas refining petrochemical energy and industrial sectors. This is a part-time position designed for a recognized industry expert who will serve as a senior technical resource across multiple projects supporting project delivery mentoring technical staff and helping clients develop innovative cost-effective remediation solutions.
The successful candidate will possess extensive experience with contaminated site investigation and remediation regulatory compliance remedial design and closure strategies. This individual will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and project managers.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Serve as the senior technical lead and subject matter expert for environmental remediation projects involving soil groundwater sediment and vapor impacts.
- Provide technical oversight and quality reviews for remedial investigations feasibility studies corrective action plans remedial designs risk assessments remedial action implementation and site closure documentation.
- Develop and review conceptual site models (CSMs) evaluate contaminant fate and transport and recommend practical technically sound remediation strategies.
- Provide technical expertise in the evaluation selection and optimization of remediation technologies including:
- In-situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO)
- Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE)
- Air Sparging
- Multi-Phase Extraction (MPE)
- Bioremediation
- Pump and Treat Systems
- Monitored Natural Attenuation (MNA)
- Engineered containment systems
- Provide strategic guidance for projects regulated under RCRA Corrective Action CERCLA/Superfund Brownfields UST/LUST and state voluntary cleanup programs.
- Serve as a senior technical advisor during client meetings regulatory discussions and project planning activities.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to project managers engineers geologists hydrogeologists and environmental scientists.
- Support business development efforts by contributing to technical proposals scope development project planning and client presentations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and environmental teams to deliver innovative practical and cost-effective solutions.
- Perform senior-level technical reviews to ensure quality consistency regulatory compliance and adherence to AECOM quality standards.
- Apply strong analytical problem-solving communication and technical writing skills while managing multiple priorities and supporting diverse project teams.
- Demonstrated experience managing and providing technical oversight for complex remediation projects supporting oil & gas refinery petrochemical industrial manufacturing or energy clients.
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations including RCRA CERCLA UST/LUST programs and Risk-Based Corrective Action (RBCA).
- Demonstrated expertise in contaminated site investigation remedial design remedy optimization and regulatory closure.
- Excellent technical writing report review presentation and client communication skills.
- Proven ability to mentor technical staff and provide leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering Civil Engineering Geological Engineering Geology Hydrogeology Environmental Science or a related field.
- 10 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- 20 years of progressively responsible environmental consulting experience with significant remediation expertise.
- Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Professional Geologist (PG) registration.
- Masters degree in Engineering Hydrogeology Environmental Science Geology or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting refinery terminal pipeline and upstream or downstream oil & gas remediation projects.
- Experience with groundwater modeling contaminant transport modeling and remedial system optimization.
- Recognized technical expert with an established reputation within the environmental consulting industry.
- Strong client relationship management and business development experience including proposal preparation and strategic client support.
