About the Role
What Youll Do
- Provides comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to oncology patients in an outpatient setting.
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary cancer care team to support patients nutritional needs and treatment goals.
- Assesses patients nutritional status using the Nutrition Care Process and Terminology (NCPT) framework.
- Identifies nutrition-related diagnoses and develops individualized nutrition care plans.
- Implements monitors and evaluates nutrition interventions for patients at nutritional risk.
- Supports the management of chronic diseases disease prevention wellness and nutrition-related health concerns.
- Delivers nutrition education and counseling to patients families caregivers and community members.
- Applies evidence-based nutrition guidelines research educational resources and best practices in patient care.
- Participates in cancer program committees quality improvement initiatives and oncology nutrition projects.
- Assists in the development and improvement of departmental workflows policies and procedures.
- Serves as a preceptor and educator for dietetic interns nutrition students and other healthcare trainees.
- Mentors trains and supports newly hired dietitians and staff on nutrition-related topics and current evidence-based practices.
- Promotes high-quality patient outcomes through interdisciplinary collaboration and continuous quality improvement efforts
What Youll Bring
- MSN highly desired. Bachelors degree in Dietetics Nutrition or a related field is required.
- Graduate degree required for individuals seeking registration eligibility on or after January 1 2024 in accordance with the Commission on Dietetic Registration requirements.
- Three (3) years of experience as a Registered Dietitian in acute care or ambulatory settings required.
- At least one (1) year of experience working with oncology patients in an outpatient setting required.
- Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) certification required or must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new initiatives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Ability to work independently prioritize patient care and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Strong ability to collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary cancer care team.

Compensation
In compliance with New Jerseys Pay Transparency Act the salary range for this position is PS/29S $85790 -$123603 per year per year. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position the candidates relevant work experience education and training key skills internal equity market data and organizational needs. The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
