Job Summary
SummaryBalfour Beattyis seeking aSenior Project Engineerto join ourCharlotteteam within the Carolinas ideal candidate is a proactive detail-oriented professional withstrong communicationskills and leadership skills eager to take on more complex technical and coordination role supports the Project Manager and Superintendent by managing assigned trades coordinating design and construction activities and ensuring quality safety and schedule performance across the project. The Senior Project Engineer plays a key role in driving project execution mentoring junior engineers and fostering Balfour Beattys commitment to teamwork innovation and ourZero FunctionsProject Planning & Coordination:Collaborate with project leadership to plan schedule and execute work;maintaincurrent contract documents and correspondence; and track key deliverables. Submittals & RFIs:Review project documents for gaps or changes prepare RFIs and coordinate submittal reviews and approvals with designers and subcontractors. Scheduling:Update project look-ahead schedules with the Superintendent;assistwithmaintainingPrimavera P6 schedules and sequencing logic to ensureaccurateprogress tracking. Cost Management:Track subcontractor back chargesassistin issuing sub change orders and support theownerpayment process. Trade Coordination:Lead trade coordination for Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) and Building Envelope systems; ensuretimelydelivery of materials and proper sequencing of work. Quality Control:Establishquality expectations for assigned tradesidentifypotential conflicts and develop tracking systems to ensure compliance with quality standards. Safety & Compliance:Support enforcement of site safety protocols including Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) compliance and subcontractor safety orientation. Closeout & Turnover:Manage the closeout checklist warranty documentation and commissioning schedules; coordinate final inspections and ensure completion of all punch list items. Team Development:Assistwith training and development of Project Engineers and Interns; foster collaboration and accountability across the degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering Architecture or related field. 24 years of experience as a Project Engineer or equivalent role in commercial construction. Strong technical knowledge of construction drawings specifications and trade coordination. Proficiencywith project management and scheduling software (Procore Primavera P6 Sage 300 CRE or similar). Excellent communication organization and decision-making Experience46 years of progressive experience managing complex trades or project scopes. Experience in mechanical/electrical coordination and field quality control programs. Demonstratedsuccess inmentoring and developing junior team members.
