Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer to join our R&D facility in Westford this role you will be responsible for designing analog and digital electronic hardware for new fire alarm products while also supporting existing product lines.

Projects may include embedded system design small-signal and instrumentation circuitry switch-mode power supplies front-panel user interfaces audio amplifiers peer-to-peer networking linear power supplies sensors and detectors and fiber-optic technologies. You will also research and evaluate emerging technologies for potential use in future product development.

This position is based in Westford MA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the facility or able to relocate. Various relocation packages are available.

How You Will Do It

• Design and analyze analog and digital electronics including embedded systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceive develop and release new products into production.
• Assume overall technical project leadership for hardware product development ensuring compliance with product specifications schedules cost targets and performance requirements.
• Work in a collaborative team environment to develop innovative solutions that meet product needs.
• Lead cross-functional teams of engineers primarily electrical and mechanical with responsibility for project cost schedule and design execution.
• Operate effectively at both the component and system levels including hardware design software integration packaging and system architecture.
• Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and engineering procedures.
• Partner closely with Product Management to define and refine product requirements.
• Design products to meet applicable regulatory and agency certifications including UL ULC CE and FCC standards.

What You Will Need
Required

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• 10 years of experience in electronics design involving analog power audio or embedded systems.
• Strong knowledge of discrete electronic components and component-level circuit design.
• Experience with electronic CAD tools including schematic capture and circuit simulation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a global cross-functional team environment.
• Experience transitioning products from development into manufacturing.

Preferred

• Experience with power supply design microprocessors and embedded systems.
• Experience with small-signal analog circuit design.
• Advanced degree

SALARY RANGE: $120000- $175000 (Salary to be determined by the education experience knowledge skills and abilities of the applicant internal equity and alignment with market data.)
