Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an experienced proactive and solutions-focused Sr. Principal Counselto join the Missile Solutions (MSL) segment as the Propulsion Solutions (PS) Sector to the Vice President General Counsel of the MSL segment this role operates as a legal specialist and business partner in providing strategic proactive and practical legal counsel within the PS sector.

• Partners with leaders to assess predict and manage legal and other risks in a growing business operating internationally.
• Advises counsels and functions as a trusted business partner on legal and other matters related to the business objectives of the sector.
• Provides legal guidance and counseling on risk mitigation strategies contract interpretation and provisions dispute resolution and other legal issues.
• Negotiates researches drafts revises and / or analyzes agreements contracts memoranda legal correspondence and other legal documents.
• Engages in factual investigation analyzes complex legal and factual issues conducts extensive legal research independently develops recommends and presents strategies on a wide range of legal matters.
• Ensures that sector practices and procedures comply with global federal state and local laws and regulations and are consistent with applicable corporate policies and procedures.
• Engages with customer counterparts as reasonably required in support of addressing certain complex legal / business transactional matters.
• Collaborates with operational subcontracts and supply chain leadership to ensure that contractual and operational risks assumed by the business are flowed down to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Monitors reviews and resolves day-to day legal and regulatory issues as they are assigned.
• Maintains knowledge of current and emerging laws regulations and trends.
• Government contracts experience within the US DoW market including both U.S. and international government and commercial customers.
• Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills are required.
• Personal commitment to ethics and compliance and experience working in an environment with high ethical standards.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related lieu of a degree minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
• JD from an accredited law school.
• A minimum of 10 years of legal experience with a focus on federal government contracts regulatory compliance and procurement.
• Member in good standing of a state bar. If not a member of the Alabama State Bar then the ability to obtain admission to the Alabama State Bar as authorized house counsel.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Proven track record of creating and implementing policies procedures and process improvements that drive efficiency and operational excellence.
• Strong working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) and subcontract flowdown requirements in government contracting environments.
• Experience leading change management initiatives and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Strong client-relations and interpersonal skills as well as excellent judgment and superior written and oral communication and analytical skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively across multiple teams and functions.
• Ability to prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Litigation and alternative dispute resolution experience.
• Previous role in a top-tier law firm or as in-house counsel with a government contractor.
