About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Trusts & Estates Attorney to join our highly respected and growing private client practice. This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished attorney who enjoys sophisticated estate planning and estate administration work and is looking for a long-term leadership opportunity within a collaborative and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will work with a well-established team handling a substantial and sophisticated trusts and estates practice including estate planning estate administration fiduciary matters and estate tax planning. The practice serves individuals and families with estates typically ranging from $2 million to $25 million with occasional higher-net-worth matters.

This role offers significant autonomy direct client engagement and the opportunity to work alongside experienced attorneys and an exceptional support team. For the right individual this position presents a potential succession opportunity as part of the firms long-term growth and leadership planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
  • Advise individuals and families on estate planning strategies wealth transfer planning and asset protection matters.
  • Draft and review wills trusts powers of attorney health care directives and related estate planning documents.
  • Manage complex estate administration and probate matters from inception through final distribution.
  • Counsel fiduciaries regarding trust and estate administration responsibilities.
  • Prepare and oversee estate gift and fiduciary tax planning matters.
  • Review and assist with estate tax return preparation and related tax filings.
  • Provide strategic guidance on trust administration fiduciary compliance and wealth preservation objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with clients accountants financial advisors and other professional advisors.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and support staff while contributing to practice development initiatives.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through responsive service and trusted legal counsel.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license and good standing with the applicable State Bar.
  • 10 years of experience in trusts and estates estate planning and estate administration.
  • Significant experience handling sophisticated estate planning matters and probate administration.
  • Estate tax return preparation and estate tax planning experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent drafting analytical communication and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage a substantial caseload while maintaining exceptional client service standards.
  • Leadership mindset with interest in mentoring succession planning and long-term practice growth.
