Job Description Summary

Candidate will analyze municipal credits across various sectors and across the credit spectrum in support of the firms public finance banking sales underwriting and trading the primary market the candidate will support the public finance bankers in multiple ways including attending issuer meetings soliciting investor feedback providing credit notes to the sales team on select credits and serving on the firms Commitment Committee. The candidate will also support the sales and trading teams with credit support on secondary market trades. The candidate will be in the firms New York City office although another office location could be considered. This is a full-time position.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze issuer credit quality
  • Monitor and assess general market conditions as well as legislative and regulatory changes that affect the municipal market
  • Ability to produce periodic written material on certain sectors or events that impact the municipal bond market
  • Provide client-related feedback to sales and trading
  • Provide credit and structuring insights to the public finance team and assist with RFP responses oral presentations and relationship development
  • Develop relationships across the fixed income platform including with the issuer and investor communities

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Candidate must have relevant fundamental credit analysis experience and strong working knowledge of the municipal bond market landscape
  • Expertise in or ability to pick up knowledge in various sectors such as tax-backed utility airport pre-paid gas and housing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to remain flexible with changing priorities
  • Must be confident and comfortable interacting with sales trading banking as well as institutional and issuer clients
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing and able to travel to visit clients and to participate in public speaking engagements
  • Must be able to provide writing samples

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years of relevant municipal credit analysis experience
  • Undergraduate degree required MBA CPA or CFA is preferred
  • Competency with Bloomberg Word Excel and Power Point

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have Series 52 and 63 licenses or be willing to obtain them shortly after employment
