Job Summary
Were looking for a Senior Metrology Engineer to join our R&D and pilot team to help build the next generation of thin-film deposition technology. The Senior Metrology Engineer will be responsible for the selection development and upkeep of measurement systems and metrology equipment. A core skill needed for this role is to be able to develop non-destructive measurements. The role will interact with R&D technical staff process engineers and technicians. - Select develop and maintain measurement systems and metrology tools for thin film metal and metal oxide layers
- Create SOPs and workflows for sample measurement and provide training (both written and verbal) for staff
- Develop and use data management systems including laboratory information management systems and manufacturing execution systems
- B.S. in a technical field (or equivalent industrial experience) including materials science electrical engineering or physics
- 7 years of experience working as a process or metrology engineer in thin film R&D and manufacturing
- Thorough understanding of thin film measurement systems including optical and electron microscopy surface probe measurements optical and NIR probes x-ray measurements transport measurements
- Experience working with metrology vendors and directing metrology service providers
- Ability to successfully work with internal customers
- Commitment to safety and quality
- Ability to take directions from supervisors and work independently in a fast-paced startup environment
- Ability to create work instructions for staff and technicians and provide training
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills
- M.S. or Ph.D. preferred
- Experience in the semiconductor battery solar cell optoelectronics or related fields
- Experience working in a fabrication facility
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Perform activities such as stooping climbing typing standing or sitting for extended periods of time
- Dedication to safety to mitigate industrial hazards that may include heat cold noise fumes strong magnets lead (Pb) high voltage and cryogenics
- Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally including compressed work-week shift schedule
