Job Summary
The Role:The Senior Managing Biomechanist leads a team of expert engineering staff in human-injury analysis in vehicular accidents premises liability and slip-and-fall incidents. Analyses of injury biomechanics may require reconstructing vehicular accidents slip-and-fall incidents or determination of factors responsible for development of the incident. This position requires extensive experience in forensic biomechanical analyses. This role performs investigations focusing on musculoskeletal biomechanics to determine the relationship between accident modes and injuries requires evaluation and analysis of biomechanical systems including voluntary and involuntary human motions assessment of situations leading to the accident and reconstructing the accidents. The role ideally includes familiarity with legal depositions working with attorneys and claims adjusters. Additionally the ideal candidate has an established network of external clientele and is experienced with building establishing and maintaining rapport with this is a fully remote role open to candidates located anywhere in the United States. Candidates located in the listed states are encouraged to This Role You Will:Lead a team of experts in conducting detailed inspections of vehicles and accident sites and accurately analyze crash sequences to identify contributing factors and the induced loading on the computer models to reconstruct accidents and to measure load and injury business development efforts by building and maintaining rapport with current clients and generating new work for themselves and a team of experts supporting them. Partner with business development representatives attend conferences and events to promote the company and skills of expert with clients and team regarding scope of work investigation tasks budget and ensures all project completion timelines deadlines and deliverables are workload is evenly distributed amongst leads and guides a team of experts in all aspects of project expert testimony at trials depositions or other legal proceedings and communicate investigative findings in a manner easily understood by technical or non-technical and measures various documents to identify relevant information for an accident reconstruction or biomechanical engineering analysis (includes police reports medical records depositions expert reports legal pleadings and discovery documents videos photographs etc.)Perform simulations of vehicular collisions using advanced collision reconstruction software such as PC-Crash Virtual Crash or HVE (or similar).Evaluate the effects of impact forces on occupants as a result of vehicular human injury mechanisms in vehicular accidents and premises liability cases such as slip-and-fall accident reconstructions of single-vehicle rollovers single-vehicle impacts with fixed objects and multi-vehicle collisions (frontal side rear and sideswipe).Utilize engineering principles to calculate factors such as impact and departure speeds collision forces and trajectories of calculations with crash test reports of similar collisions to correlate damages based on calculated papers and journals related to vehicular accident reconstruction to understand and advance the scientific techniques used in reconstruction written conclusions of findings to assist others in understanding the evidence or in determining the facts at You Bring:10 years of experience in biomechanics accident reconstruction and premises liability work or similar in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering requiredPE license PhD SAE certification and/or ACTAR certification requiredDemonstrated success establishing clientele and rapport with insurance carriers lawyers and adjustersExtensive experience providing expert deposition and courtroom testimony Advanced proficiency in CAD as applied to accident reconstruction and forensic analysisStrong background working with automotive engineering and automotive control systemsComfortable operating in a billable projectbased consulting environmentExperience collaborating with forensic animators to develop highquality visual exhibits for depositions and trial presentationsExperience performing evaluating and interpreting computer simulationsBased in (or planning to relocate to) the job locationCollaborative teamoriented professional with a commitment to continuous learning and developmentWho We Are: YA is an international professional services organization providing forensic consulting engineering risk mitigation and related services.
