About the role:

Samsara is looking for a Senior Manager Finance and Strategy to partner with our Research & Development (R&D) organization. Samsaras R&D organization creates the industry-leading IoT products and features that power our customer this role you will partner with business leaders to set and achieve corporate goals. You will drive quantitative and qualitative analysis to inform strategic judgements and identify optimization opportunities. You will support corporate financial goals by driving forecast models and providing accurate guidance to our leaders and investors. You also will lead our financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes across Samsaras R&D organization.

This role can be office-based in our San Francisco office or fully remote.

In this role you will:

• Serve as the finance lead for Samsaras R&D organization partnering directly with C-level leaders on budget trade-offs headcount decisions and infrastructure investment
• Own FP&A for R&D monthly BvA reviews with VP-level leaders quarterly reforecasts and the annual operating plan across Software Firmware Hardware Engineering and Product Management
• Own forecasting and controllership across COGS and Gross Margin employee expenses and total compensation economics
• Build scalable financial processes and use AI tools to automate reporting accelerate analysis and deliver real-time visibility to R&D leadership
• Lead develop and manage a high-performing team member

Minimum requirements for the role:

• 8 years of experience in Corporate Finance financial planning and analysis or strategic finance experience
• 2 years of People management and development experience
• Strong financial modeling and analysis capabilities
• Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally
• Strong communication and presentation skills; comfortable presenting to senior management
• Experience with AI tools (e.g. Claude Cursor ChatGPT Gemini etc.)

• Experience working with large datasets and technical data management and analysis skills (e.g. SQL Tableau etc.)
