About the Role

The Mobile Core team develops frameworks and tools that empower engineering teams across Twitch to build compelling mobile this role you will directly contribute to creating and refining core features such as Video Playback while architecting strategic solutions for internal developers. Twitch is evolving its mobile strategy from native-first to a hybrid approach that leverages React in WebViews alongside native iOS capabilities. Youll work on high-impact initiatives including our hybrid web-to-mobile platform performance optimization at scale automated testing infrastructure and developer tooling that accelerates velocity across the organization.

You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager for Mobile Core iOS and can work from either our Seattle Irvine San Francisco or our New York City offices.

You Will
- Own and drive the technical strategy for foundational iOS components native video playback infrastructure and hybrid (React in WebView) frameworks
- Architect and build robust WebView infrastructure and bridges that enable seamless integration between React-based web content and native iOS functionality
- Lead performance optimization efforts for platform components used by millions of daily active users establishing benchmarks and best practices
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to iOS engineers across multiple product teams and within Mobile Core including onboarding and growing L4/L5 engineers
- Drive cross-organizational architectural decisions that balance developer velocity app performance and maintainability representing Mobile Cores technical perspective in org-wide discussions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain development standards for hybrid mobile applications influencing adoption across the mobile engineering organization

- 6 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 6 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 6 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team
- 6 years of professional iOS development experience
- Strong proficiency with Swift and the iOS architectural components and ecosystem
- 6 years of building and shipping production iOS applications to the Apple App Store
- A talent for building consensus around technical decisions and guiding the team along evolving architecture patterns
- Track record of leading major architectural initiatives migrations or platform-level projects
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar across teams
- Experience leveraging AI-powered development tools (such as Claude Code GitHub Copilot Cursor or similar) to accelerate development

- Experience with hybrid mobile architectures WebView integration JavaScript bridges React or React Native
- Experience with video streaming or real-time communication technologies
- Experience working on platform or infrastructure teams that support multiple product teams

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
