Senior Instructional Designer 4Training

Designs and delivers programs to train all levels of personnel. Develops tests and visual aids conducts training classes and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. Keeps abreast of training and development research: learning theory motivation theory and new materials methods and techniques. Develops in-house programs and practices to identify developmental needs including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments. May evaluate and/or oversee contractors or vendors to develop and/or administer training programs. May be responsible for development of e-learning programs.

Bachelors Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; Masters Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelors Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

• NNS Apprentice School graduate
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
• Associates Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
• High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing Shipbuilding Trades Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
• High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing Shipbuilding Trades Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Key responsibilities:

• Stakeholder partnership: serve as a primary internal consultant to operational business units proactively building relationships with SMEs and leadership to understand their core business goals.
• Root cause diagnosis: conduct thorough front-end analyses and performance gap assessments. Distinguish between training needs and process or system issues confidently guiding stakeholders toward the most effective human-performance interventions.
• Learning architecture: translate complex technical mechanical and operational processes into structured intuitive learning paths and curricula
• End-to-end development: design and develop comprehensive multi-modal learning solutions including digital/e-learning instructor-led training on-the-job learning guides and just-in-time performance support materials.
• Multimedia collaboration: lead project teams and collaborate seamlessly with specialized internal functions including multimedia development graphic arts multi-media crews and database administrators
• Talent development: serve as a peer-leader and mentor to instructional designers.
• Design assessment and evaluation: develop strategies to measure behavioral application and impact to operational KPIs
• Data reporting: partner with data and systems teams to leverage tools to monitor learning metrics.

Demonstrated experience:

• Years of experience: 6-8 years of progressive instructional design experience demonstrating end-to-end ownership of one or more large-scale learning initiatives.
• Industry context: proven experience designing training in similar industry.

Technical and consultative competencies:

• Authoring and technology: strong proficiency with modern authoring suites and understanding of LMS capabilities SCORM/xAPI standards and digital content management architectures.
• Change enablement: understanding of change management principles to ensure adoption and smooth rollouts of new training programs across a diverse workforce.
• Course delivery: experience instructing adults in corporate college or community environment whether virtual or in-person

Soft skills:

• Influencing and candor: excellent consultative communication skills; the ability to challenge assumptions manage stakeholder expectations and drive across conflicting priorities.
• Project management leadership: strong organizational skills with evidence of managing multiple concurrent projects with tight operational deadlines.
