What is this career opportunity

We are seeking an innovative Senior Human Resources Generalist to join our Enterprise (Central) HR Team within the State Human Resources Division. This position supports the State of Montanas human resources centralization initiative. This position supports and guides agency human resources staff by leading development and deployment of forward-looking strategic enterprise-wide solutions associated with talent management performance and development classification and compensation recruitment and selection and labor relations and collective bargaining support. This position builds and maintains effective working partnerships with the state human resources community; provides guidance on state and federal policies and regulations; leads policy changes and program initiatives based on emerging trends and changes in law; leads responses to formal claims and recommends strategies for reducing claims; and works closely with human resources information systems staff to develop and support system initiatives.

The State of Montana has a decentralized human resources (HR) system. Each agency is responsible for its own recruitment and selection. What are we looking for

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in human resources business administration public administration or another related field.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in a human resources role including a least two years of experience in a senior human resources role.
  • Experience developing and administering both tactical and strategic HR programs within a larger organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles procedures and best practices for talent recruitment and selection training compensation and benefits labor law and HR information systems.

Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by case basis.

  • Exercise good judgment and discretion to establish and maintain strong working relationships using strong collaboration and facilitation skills;
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse group of state employees managers and stakeholders on a wide range of topics;
  • Identify problems emerging issues and trends and support enterprise-wide strategies to address them;
  • Provide direction and education regarding compensation and position classification strategies;
  • Participate with the development of policies administrative rules standards and guidelines;
  • Effectively prioritize work regarding multiple projects and competing priorities; and
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and discretion and maintain confidentiality.
