Job Summary

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is a global leader in genomics.

The Senior HR Business Partner for the Americas is a Director-level role supporting the United States Canada and Latin America. As the primary HR advisor to the Americas leadership team this role will lead commercially focused HR mentorship throughout the full employee lifecycle including recruitment onboarding performance compensation development engagement employee relations and compliance.

Liaising with the Americas leadership team the successful candidate will help ensure the region has the capability leadership culture and talent required to achieve its strategic objectives. They will partner with global Centers of Excellence to align with the wider People and talent strategy. This role combines strategic partnership with hands-on operational delivery and requires the ability to work independently.

  • The position reports to the Chief People Officer and is part of Oxford Nanopores Global HR team.
  • The role is a REMOTE role but we are only considering candidates located within close proximity to Boston MA.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior HR Business Partner is responsible for developing and delivering the People strategy for the Americas with a particular focus on the commercial and sales organization. They will build trusted relationships with senior leaders provide expert and pragmatic advice and translate business priorities into effective workforce talent and organizational plans.

They will support business transformation and change management coaching leaders to strengthen leadership effectiveness team performance accountability and employee engagement. The role will also uphold and embed Oxford Nanopores values through people practices policies and programs.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Providing practical guidance on complex employee relations matters including investigations performance concerns grievances disciplinary matters mediation and workplace conflict.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws and regional requirements across the United States Canada and Latin America.
  • Using workforce data audits and reporting to support informed decision-making governance and risk management.
  • Partnering with HR Operations to improve processes maintain accurate employee records and deliver a consistent employee experience.
  • Collaborating with HR colleagues across the UK EMEAI and APAC to align regional practices with global priorities.
  • Leading or contributing to regional and global HR projects and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Promoting fair consistent inclusive and merit-based people practices that support employee development belonging and opportunity.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Significant HR experience including experience as a senior HR Business Partner.
  • Proven experience supporting senior commercial or sales leaders.
  • Experience working across multiple countries states or jurisdictions.
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. employment law and HR practices; experience supporting Canada and Latin America is preferred.
  • Experience working in a global matrixed organization and partnering with Centers of Excellence.
  • Solid experience in employee relations workforce planning organizational design talent management performance management and leadership coaching.
  • Ability to operate both strategically and operationally with sound judgment and confidence when advising senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication analytical and organizational skills.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience in Human Resources Business or a related field. An advanced degree or HR certification is preferred.

The salary for this role is between $155000 and $ 180000 USD. The salary offered will reflect the skills and experience of the candidate. Certain roles within ONT are eligible for annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance.
