Senior Hardware Technical Program Manager, Amazon Leo Customer Terminals

Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Leo is looking for a Senior Hardware Technical Program Manager (TPM) located in Redmond WA to support the Industrial Design Product Design (Mechanical) Electrical Design and Antenna Design for the Customer Terminal (CT) Projects.

As a Senior Hardware TPM you will lead the HW development of a single customer terminal device working closely with the hardware architect and hardware functional teams including Electrical Engineering Product Design Antenna Engineering and Industrial Design to meet Key Performance Metrics for technical and schedule requirements.

You will work with Customer Terminal Technical Program Manager to ensure hardware design and deliverables align with Diagnostic and Production Device software deliverables for key builds. You will collaborate with the System TPM Product Integrity Finance Operations (including Quality Operations Program Managers Advanced Manufacturing Engineering) to successfully mitigate challenges and maintain project milestone. You must be responsive flexible and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. The ideal person will treat the HW TPM with a Founders Mentality and own the Device HW like it is their own start up.

Key job responsibilities
Senior Hardware TPM need strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to scale communications to the correct audience for decisions to be made.

Emphasize speed of decision within the product development cycles and manage critical issues through optimized prioritization of resources and personnel.

Working with overseas internal and external teams on developing products.

Scale and evolve key processes and design review checkpoint mechanisms to enable responsible last minute decision making on one way and two way door decisions.

Manage and communicate product development critical issues work collaboratively to execute solutions meeting key product KPI and escalate as required when teams are unable to reach a consensus or decisions are one way door.


A day in the life
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing execution of the Device Hardware and Accessories (cables power supplies etc.) with a balance of technical skills bias for action customer obsession and ownership. The TPM will collaborate daily onsite with the hardware development team located in Redmond WA including Product Design Industrial Design Electrical and Antenna teams. On a weekly basis the TPM will create agendas and presentations leading to meetings at the Director and VP level to make timely one way and two way door decisions to maintain project timelines finances requirements and deliverables

- 5 years of technical product or program management experience
- 7 years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 5 years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- 5 years of technical product or program management experience or equivalent experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Bachelors degree in engineering computer science or equivalent

- 5 years of project management disciplines including scope schedule budget quality along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience defining KPIs/SLAs used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- PMP certification or SCRUM/Agile SAFe certification
- 3 years of project management disciplines including scope schedule budget quality along with risk and critical path management experience or equivalent experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules or equivalent
- Experience defining KPIs/SLAs used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- Masters (technical or MBA)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
