Job Summary

Manages pre-award research grant and contract administration activities for an assigned portfolio supporting researchers and departments across Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Brigham and Womens Hospital (BWH) and McLean Hospital. Provides guidance on the research proposal development and submission process assists with budget preparation interprets sponsor requirements and ensures proposals comply with sponsor and institutional policies. Serves as a key resource to investigators and departmental staff throughout the proposal lifecycle and may support the institutions most complex funding applications. Expected to achieve Institutional Signing Authority.

Essential Functions
-Coordinates and prepares research grant and contract proposals for submission to federal foundation industry and other sponsors.
-Develops and reviews proposal budgets budget justifications and supporting documentation in collaboration with investigators and departmental staff.
-Interprets sponsor guidelines funding opportunity announcements and institutional policies to ensure compliant proposal submissions.
-Reviews proposals for completeness accuracy and adherence to sponsor and organizational requirements prior to submission.
-Advises investigators and research teams on proposal preparation submission timelines and sponsor expectations.
-Serves as a subject matter expert on pre-award grants administration processes policies and systems.
-Facilitates electronic proposal submissions through sponsor and institutional systems.
-Provides guidance and training to faculty research staff and new team members on pre-award research administration practices.
-Supports highly complex high-value and multi-investigator proposals.
-Achieves and exercises Institutional Signing Authority in accordance with organizational requirements.

Education

• Bachelors Degree required; experience can be considered in lieu of a degree

Experience

• At least 3-5 years of research administration experience required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Proficient in spreadsheet database accounting and other computer applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication interpersonal and problem solving skills.
• Good organization and coordination skills.
• Ability to work with large financial data sets with accuracy.
• Good working knowledge of research agency sponsor and organization funding guidelines and policies.
• Good negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to make good judgements and resolve problems.

Working Conditions

• This is a remote role that can be done from most US states
• This is a full-time position with a Monday through Friday schedule during standard Eastern Time business hours
• Remote workdays require a stable secure quiet and HIPAA-compliant workspace. This will be confirmed via Microsoft Teams video for all employees
