Senior Field Service Technician – Travel Required

Job Summary

The Senior Field Service Technician is responsible for traveling to customer sites throughout the assigned territory to install troubleshoot maintain and repair water treatment pumping and related equipment. This highly travel-focused position requires extensive overnight travel and may involve being away from home for multiple consecutive weeks. The technician will also operate DOT-regulated commercial vehicles and safely transport equipment tools and materials to customer locations.

This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined professional who enjoys hands-on technical work troubleshooting working independently and providing exceptional customer service in a variety of field environments.

Essential Responsibilities

• Safely operate company commercial vehicles in accordance with DOT requirements.
• Transport equipment tools and materials to customer locations.
• Install troubleshoot inspect maintain and repair water treatment pumping and related equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical electrical and diesel-powered equipment issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service calls.
• Work independently in the field while maintaining communication with internal teams.
• Document service work inspections repairs and customer interactions accurately.
• Deliver exceptional customer service while representing Xylem professionally.
• Follow all company and customer safety requirements.
• Maintain company vehicles tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Obtain and maintain required customer site clearances including TWIC DISA and other applicable clearances.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 13 years of field service industrial maintenance diesel mechanical electrical or related technical experience.
• Experience with water treatment pumps industrial equipment or related systems preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and mobile devices.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card.
• Ability to obtain required customer site clearances including TWIC DISA and other applicable clearances.
• Valid passport or ability to obtain one for occasional cross-border travel.

Travel and Driving Requirements

• Travel is required 75%80% of the time.
• Frequent overnight travel is required and assignments may require being away from home for up to three consecutive weeks or more.
• Flexibility to travel throughout the assigned territory is required.
• This position requires operating DOT-regulated commercial vehicles. Candidates must have and maintain a valid drivers license and a clean driving record that meets company standards.
• Candidates must successfully complete all required driver DOT medical and background screening requirements.

Compensation & Benefits
