Were seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the front end of complex structural steel projects transforming conceptual designs into reliable budgets and strategic project opportunities. This is a high-impact role for a professional who thrives in preconstruction enjoys solving complex challenges and wants a seat at the table with owners contractors and design teams.
As part of our Integrated Steel Delivery (ISD) approach youll help influence project outcomes long before fabrication begins working alongside Evolve Steel and Salas OBrien engineering professionals to create innovative cost-effective structural solutions.
You wont be confined to quantity takeoffs and bid spreadsheets. Youll help guide design decisions influence project strategy and support pursuit planning for some of the most challenging projects in the market.
Our team supports complex commercial healthcare semiconductor industrial and data center projects throughout the region and beyond.
Through our partnership with Salas OBrien youll collaborate directly with engineers detailing teams fabrication professionals project managers and field leaders to create smarter project solutions.

- Develop conceptual schematic GMP design-assist and final project estimates
- Build complete structural steel budgets from incomplete or early-stage information
- Create and document estimating assumptions contingencies and risk strategies
- Develop and maintain historical cost benchmarks and pricing databases
- Collaborate with owners architects engineers and general contractors
- Guide value engineering efforts and constructability discussions
- Participate in preconstruction meetings and strategic project pursuits
- Support executive-level contract negotiations and project planning
- Help determine bid/no-bid decisions and pursuit strategy
- Monitor steel market conditions pricing trends and procurement opportunities
- Develop proposal narratives qualifications clarifications and pricing strategies
- Support profitable growth through sound estimating practices
- Coach and develop estimating team members
- Establish estimating standards tools and best practices
- Conduct estimate-to-actual reviews and continuous improvement efforts
- Serve as a trusted advisor to company leadership

- 10 years of structural steel fabrication or commercial construction estimating experience
- Experience leading large or complex estimates
- Proven success developing estimates from conceptual or incomplete design documents
- Strong understanding of structural steel systems and construction methods
- Experience working directly with owners engineers and contractors
- Experience with design-assist negotiated work GMP development or Target Value Design
- Background in healthcare industrial semiconductor data center or other complex project sectors
- Familiarity with Tekla EPM and BIM-based estimating workflows
- Degree in Construction Management Engineering Architecture or a related field
Required Skills:
Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelors degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering Structural Engineering or a related field required. Masters degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of progressive construction management experience. Minimum 5 years of leadership experience within the structural steel industry. Proven success managing large-scale commercial industrial or infrastructure steel projects. Technical Expertise Extensive knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection practices. Strong understanding of structural systems welding procedures bolting requirements and steel construction methodologies. Comprehensive knowledge of construction codes industry standards and safety regulations. Proficiency with construction management and design software including: Procore Primavera P6 AutoCAD Tekla Structures BIM platforms and related technologies Leadership Competencies Exceptional leadership communication and relationship-building skills. Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities. Demonstrated success leading large multidisciplinary teams. Excellent organizational planning and financial management capabilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Required Education:
Education & Experience Bachelors degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering Structural Engineering or a related field required. Masters degree preferred.
