Senior Estimator

SummaryBalfour Beatty is seeking an experienced Heavy Highway/Civil Senior Estimator to join our Southwest Region estimating team. As a Senior Estimator candidates will have the knowledge and experience to prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for all scopes of work on a typical highway project (structures including retaining walls and bridges concrete paving storm sewer earthwork etc.) including the interpretation and takeoff of project plans and specifications to complete a full estimate of the work. The Senior Estimator will have the ability to be responsible for all scopes of work for both bid-build and design-build projects for the region estimating team. The Senior Estimator will have the experience to both assist and function in many of the roles of the Chief Estimator. Essential Job FunctionsReview proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of scope of files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact sales brochures price lists HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software to develop a comprehensive project estimate and ability to participate in the management of the with vendors in support of plans and specifications and recommend best solutions based on cost engineering quality or availability of additional assignments per supervisors assess and find ways to mitigate project leadership training and mentoring to junior estimating 10 years of estimating experience and/or related project management training with large highway projects is with all scopes of a typical highway construction project and the ability to estimate or review all scopes as needed.A working knowledge of TxDOT standards and specifications is experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) is experience with Bluebeam is Heavy Bid experience and/or related software for pricing work is capability to build and manage a P6 CPM schedule on projects is with earthwork computer communication and time management usBalfour Beatty US is an industry-leading provider of general contracting at-risk construction management and design-build services for public and private sector clients across the nation.
