Job Summary
Randstad is seeking a Senior Enterprise Identity & Credentialing Architect to lead a strategic exploratory initiative to modernize and standardize a comprehensive enterprise physical credentialing program (NextGen Smart ID) for a major transportation and critical infrastructure client in the Washington D.C. area. Serving as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) this individual will bridge legacy physical access control systems (PACS) with emerging logical identity technologies (IAM) ensuring seamless alignment with enterprise architecture cybersecurity and operational standards. This consultative pre-implementation phase combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical guidance to conduct current-state assessments drive enterprise requirements gathering and design a conceptual future-state architecture and roadmap that informs future high-profile procurement and rollout phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements & Governance: Lead comprehensive enterprise requirements gathering across complex business technical operational and cybersecurity domains.
- Architecture & Design: Define conceptual future-state architectures that seamlessly integrate Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) Identity & Access Management (IAM) frameworks and supporting infrastructure.
- Strategic Roadmapping: Develop the strategic sequencing use cases workflows acceptance criteria and roadmap for future multi-phase system deployment and implementation.
- Current-State Assessment: Conduct deep-dive technical assessments of current credential usage system capabilities and active integrations to identify gaps and modernisation opportunities.
- Industry Benchmarking: Conduct industry and regulatory research to benchmark credentialing best practices and emerging technologies across transportation federal and critical infrastructure sectors.
- Deliverable Ownership: Author and validate critical project artifacts including requirement specifications use case catalogs conceptual architecture diagrams procurement inputs and risk mitigation approaches.
- Oversight & Support: Oversee vendor deliverables to ensure high quality and standard alignment while providing operational guidance for credential lifecycle processes change management and audit readiness.
Qualifications
- Experience: 8 years of dedicated hands-on experience in enterprise credentialing and Identity & Access Management (IAM) architectures.
- Domain Expertise: Deep technical knowledge spanning both physical and logical identity systems including legacy badge platforms (e.g. LenelS2 Genetec Honeywell) and modern authentication technologies (e.g. Zero Trust FIDO2 passwordless PKI).
- Frameworks & Compliance: Proven experience aligning architecture with federal standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g. NIST 800-63 FIPS 201).
- Sector Experience: Prior experience designing identity solutions within the transportation industry federal government or highly regulated critical infrastructure environments is strongly preferred.
- Consultative Skills: Strong track record of successful stakeholder engagement strategic leadership and translating complex technical concepts into structured enterprise roadmaps.
