I. Job Summary

Under limited supervision the Senior Dynatrace Engineer coordinates designs implements manages and maintains monitoring solutions for the organization including server and cloud services monitoring. This role serves as the highest advanced-level subject matter expert providing authoritative guidance for professional staff and potentially serving in a lead role. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate monitoring troubleshoot performance bottlenecks onboard/configure applications into Dynatrace and research Root Cause Analysis (RCA) across hybrid multi-cloud and microservices architectures for the INET Program.

II. Role Responsibilities

Monitoring & Observability:

  • Configure maintain and optimize monitoring solutions using Dynatrace.
  • Enable end-to-end visibility across infrastructure systems and applications.
  • Develop dashboards alerts and health checks to ensure system health and reliability.
  • Monitor service performance and availability; set alert thresholds to minimize false positives.

Infrastructure Systems Monitoring:

  • Monitor Windows/Linux servers virtual environments and cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP).
  • Support monitoring of databases middleware and network components.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams to identify trends and capacity needs.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact production.

Application Monitoring:

  • Use Dynatrace to monitor application performance and transaction flows.
  • Support synthetic monitoring and real user monitoring.
  • Work closely with application teams to ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage.
  • Assist in troubleshooting performance issues at both the application and system level.

Incident Support:

  • Participate in incident response efforts related to performance and availability.
  • Provide monitoring insights during troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Identify and close monitoring gaps.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Enhance monitoring standards and documentation.
  • Recommend improvements to monitoring configurations and alert strategies.
  • Support integration of monitoring tools with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.
III. Candidate Skills and Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Required Experience & Technical Skills:

  • 5 Years: Hands-on experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools.
  • 5 Years: Systems engineering infrastructure support or monitoring roles.
  • 5 Years: Knowledge of Windows/Linux servers virtualized environments (VMware) and cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP).
  • 5 Years: Experience with scripting or automation tools like PowerShell or Bash (preferred).
  • 5 Years: Basic networking understanding (DNS TCP/IP Load balancing).
  • 5 Years: Experience migrating from Dynatrace Managed to SaaS.
  • 5 Years: Recommending baseline monitoring thresholds KPIs and SLAs.
  • 5 Years: Familiarity with enterprise log analysis frameworks and tools like Jira or ServiceNow.
  • 5 Years: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and management.
  • 3 Years: Exposure to AWS Solution Architect Professional Certification (Preferred).

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or container monitoring.
  • Experience with ITIL practices and regulated industries (e.g. healthcare financial services).
  • Strong troubleshooting analytical skills and detail-oriented mindset.
