Job Summary
The Sr. Director Professional Support Services has the following duties and responsibilities:
Strategy and Business Development
Work in collaboration with hospital leadership physicians and other key stakeholders to develop strategic business innovation growth and marketing plans within area of responsibility.
Articulate strategic plan and tactics to leaders within area of responsibility to create alignment and establish priorities.
Collaborates with medical staff hospital and other service providers to develop and/or enhance programs and service delivery.
Participate in hospital initiatives (i.e. fundraising and community events) serve on hospital and system-based committees as appropriate.
Evaluates operational needs for new programs services and technology including staffing requirements and capital needs.
Continually investigates and introduces process improvement measures and presents suggestions for consideration. Advises hospital Leadership regarding the need for new programs and services.
Regularly reports verbally or in written means to hospital President Executive Team appropriate medical staff committees and other groups as necessary on quality processional services and financial activities of assigned area.
Operations
Provides executive leadership and direction for area of responsibility delegating activities as required for safe efficient and effective operations.
Plan organize and delegate activities as required for the safe efficient and effective operations including active participation with other hospital and leadership staff to accomplish this objective.
Develop and oversee implementation of policies procedures and standards that direct operations creates operational efficiency and ensures regulatory compliance.
Create and implement processes that facilitate the coordination of care and ensure an interdisciplinary process.
Develop and implement operating plans to ensure strategic financial and marketing objectives are realized.
Identify and utilize processes and resources that support optimal delivery of data and information to leadership and workforce team.
Evaluate performance for area of responsibility and hold leaders accountable for operational outcomes consistent with established goals.
Collaborates and cultivates strong working relationships across disciplines and with all levels of leadership.
Provides direction in emergency or crisis situations.
Regulatory Compliance
Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies (TDH TJC CAP CMS applicable state license and certification). Ensures operations are carried out in compliance with these regulations. Identifies gaps and implements remediation plans as necessary.
In collaboration with THFW Compliance investigate and respond to matters of concern related to alleged violations taking corrective action as necessary. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate regarding potential disciplinary action.
Quality and Performance Improvement
Create a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Ensure the integration of quality and performance improvement into operations.
Monitor and ensure compliance with policies and procedures as well as safety environmental and infection control guidelines.
Use benchmark data from internal and external sources to identify opportunities for improvement of care and service delivery.
Identify key performance indicators within areas of responsibility that need to be monitored and evaluated.
Identifies opportunities for improvement of care and services based on comparative data from internal and external sources indicators process and outcome measures and other findings.
Develops monitors and evaluates systems for improved performance utilizing methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma and PDSA.
Reviews Press Ganey patient satisfaction data to identify gaps between results and expectations. Develops/implements processes and systems that will ensure high levels of satisfaction are maintained.
Assist with plans for educating measuring monitoring and improving performance on the patient safety KPIs RCBs and other KPIs.
Provides timely follow through and response to issues or complaints including RLs patient complaints and CMS investigations.
Ensures patient receive safe and consistent care within areas of responsibility by implementing/monitoring quality assurance/quality improvement programs to achieve measurable improvements in care and patient safety.
Optimizes physician satisfaction and improves ease-of-use for physicians in the hospital setting.
Fiscal Management
Operationally responsible for the financial performance including operating and capital budgeting for assigned area of responsibility.
Promote activities to reduce costs enhance revenues and achieve operational efficiency.
Manage the approved budget through frequent and regular monitoring. Implement written action plans to address variances adjusting strategies as needed to meet budgetary expectations.
Considers operational outcomes and financial implications when making recommendations to implement new services or modify current programs.
Manages staffing levels consistent with volumes.

Assists the CFO in the financial analysis for new and/or existing programs services and related technologies. With finance develop plans to address potential risks or opportunities with new programs and analyze clinical and financial trends. Develop monitor adjust and explain variances for operational and capital budgets.
Human Resource Management
Recruits and retains a quality work force.
Provides a work environment which attracts and retains staff.
Ensure Human Resource metrics (i.e. retention vacancy rates etc) meet established targets.
Promote and foster a diverse highly engaged and collaborative work environment within areas of responsibility. Utilize workforce metrics such as vacancy retention and engagement to monitor identify and respond to workforce trends.
Consistently practice strategic human resources management. Motivate others to achieve excellence in patient care quality safety service and stewardship.
Conducts regular meetings informs team of changes in policy or procedure and provides information regarding overall strategic mission vision and direction of hospital.
Mentor coach and support direct reports front line team and hospital leadership with building teamwork staff development and education to achieve optimal performance and develop managerial and clinical talent.
Ensures employee engagement survey participation rates and results meet established goals.
Mandatory requirements are complete and required licensures certification and/or registry are current and in good standing.
Maintain compliance with hospital and system policies.
Monitor and manage performance using the disciplinary process as appropriate.

Education
Bachelors Degree Business or Healthcare related discipline Required

Masters Degree Business Administration Healthcare Administration or related discipline Required
Experience
5 Years Progressive management experience in a healthcare setting Required
Managerial or Director Level Experience Strongly Preferred
Previous Leadership experience with a larger group of reports a plus
Acute Care Ancillary experience Strongly Preferred
Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively and professionally across disciplines and with a variety of distinct constituents as well as the ability to articulate complex information in understandable terms. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across and beyond the organization. Demonstrated ability to influence and coach for results.
Proven expertise in examining and reengineering operations and implementing new strategies. Demonstrated ability to lead organizational initiatives accomplish results and achieve measurable outcomes or goals. Strong analytical reasoning skills including the ability to implement projects and solve complex problems. Must be able to work in challenging situations. Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards for areas of responsibility. Proficient computer and Microsoft Office skills.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Operation Officer in cooperation with the Chief Nursing Officer and the Executive Leadership Team supports the planning development and execution of short and long-term clinical and non-clinical strategic initiatives and identifies opportunities for integration and/or improved efficiencies making recommendations when appropriate.
