Job Summary

Title: Senior Data Governance Consultant

Location: Newark New Jersey

Duration: Long Term Contract

Responsibilities

Define and enforce data quality rules across ingestion pipelines and data catalogues.
Set up and manage enterprise data catalogues - metadata lineage and asset classification.
Recommend and implement data governance tools suited to the organisation.
Engage business users across units to co-design governance guardrails and policies.
Drive data mastering strategy from ingestion through to consumption.
Establish data ownership and stewardship models across domains.
Champion data governance as a strategic business enabler - articulating the value of trusted well-governed data in driving better decisions reducing risk and improving operational efficiency.
Liaise with business unit leaders and key stakeholders to build awareness and buy-in for governance initiatives translating technical standards into business-relevant outcomes.
Act as a governance advocate across the organisation - conducting working sessions training and roadshows to embed a data-ownership culture at every level of the business.

Requirements

10 years in data governance data management or data engineering.
Hands-on with DQ rule definition data catalogue setup and ingestion pipeline governance.
Experienced in evaluating and deploying DG platforms (Purview Collibra Alation etc.).
Strong communicator - able to translate governance concepts for business stakeholders.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure AWS or GCP) and MDM principles.
