Are you passionate about designing and optimizing the critical systems that power some of the worlds largest and most reliable infrastructure As a Senior Data Center Infrastructure Electrical Engineer you will serve as a technical leader responsible for the design architecture and continuous improvement of data center infrastructure systems. Your work will directly influence the availability and efficiency of the physical backbone that supports millions of customers worldwide.

In this role you will tackle complex ambiguous problems across global projects driving solutions that are inventive scalable and maintainable. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams influence facility strategy and set standards for engineering excellence. Whether you are leading the design of new infrastructure systems or resolving root causes of endemic issues your contributions will have a meaningful long-term impact on how Amazon builds and operates its data centers.

Key job responsibilities
Support the Data Center Design Engineering Principal Engineering and Hardware Engineering teams to design and develop innovative concepts into new mechanical cooling products (AHUs chiller pump skids ADACs) used in AWS data centers.
Lead the electrical aspect of new product design and development for mechanical cooling equipment including motor controls VFDs power distribution panels control wiring and instrumentation integration.
Collaborate with other disciplines such as mechanical engineering structural engineering controls/automation reliability QA/QC and compliance to create well-thought-out products.
Design and specify electrical systems for rotating equipment including fans pumps and compressors ensuring proper motor sizing protection and control schemes.
Create designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements while delivering a return on investment.
Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical components devices and bill of materials for AHUs skids and ADACs.
Ensure compliance with federal state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries including UL CE IEC NEC/NFPA 70 and other applicable standards for mechanical cooling equipment.
Prepare review and approve product design and drawings including electrical schematics single-line diagrams wiring diagrams panel layouts cable schedules and bill of materials.
Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to and during manufacturing phases.
Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly set up test processes and validate installation operation and performance of electrical systems within mechanical cooling products.
Develop and review control logic interlocks and safety circuits for AHU skid chillers and ADAC assemblies in coordination with controls engineers.
Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
Support of Operations including failure mode and root cause analysis maintenance and troubleshooting support and operating procedure review for electrical systems in cooling equipment.
Be a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center.
Ability and willingness to travel domestic and internationally for up to 25% of the year.

A day in the life
You might start your morning reviewing design documents for a new infrastructure deployment providing feedback that strengthens the overall architecture. By midday you could be leading a cross-team project review aligning engineers across regions on a shared technical the afternoon you may dive into root-cause analysis of a recurring facility issue proposing a mechanism to prevent future occurrences. Throughout it all you will coach teammates share expertise and help shape the direction of critical infrastructure at Amazon.

- Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field
- 6 years of data center design construction operations or facility maintenance experience
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers power generation or oil and gas facilities
- Experience researching new designs technologies and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region

- Professional Engineering or Architectural License
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration development and into deployment or mass production
- Experience reading interpreting and creating construction drawings specifications and submittal documents
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
