Senior Cloud Software Engineer Pre-trade (Gas & Power Industry)

Location: Houston (Hybrid at least 3 days onsite/week)

Talan is looking for a Senior Software Engineer -  AWS / Python to support a key client in the energy trading industry.

The role focuses on designing developing deploying and supporting secure scalable cloud applications and data services supporting pre-trade market data pricing and analytics. AWS is the primary cloud platform and Python the main development language.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and support cloud-native applications APIs microservices and event-driven solutions on AWS.
• Develop backend services and automation in Python.
• Design services handling market data pricing analytics and pre-trade workflows.
• Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform AWS CDK or CloudFormation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD automated testing monitoring and observability.
• Apply cloud security and secure software-development best practices.
• Optimize application performance reliability scalability and AWS costs.
• Lead technical discussions code reviews and architecture reviews.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

Qualifications :

• 10 years of experience designing building and maintaining high-throughput reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Python and SQL.

• 5 years of hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS Azure or GCP) including services such as AWS S3 Glue Redshift Azure Data Factory and BigQuery.

• Strong experience with CI/CD Git production support observability and incident management including AWS Glue environments.

• Experience designing and developing APIs microservices distributed systems and event-driven architectures.

• Experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms including ECS and EKS.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform AWS CDK or CloudFormation; AWS certification preferred.

• Bachelor degree in Computer science Engineering Finance or Quantitative finance

Nice to Have

• Experience in energy trading commodities market data pricing or financial markets.
• Microsoft Azure experience (Alternatively AWS)
• Athena or Redshift.
• C#/.NET or React or Angular.
• Azure certifications
