We are seeking an experienced Senior Chemist specializing in VOA/SVOA analysis using GC-MS instrumentation to join our environmental laboratory in Conroe TX.


In this role you will serve as a senior technical leader within a high-performing environmental laboratory driving analytical excellence through advanced GC/MS analysis method development instrumentation optimization and complex technical problem-solving. You will lead critical laboratory initiatives provide technical mentorship strengthen quality systems and drive continuous improvement while ensuring the delivery of accurate defensible analytical data that supports EPA compliance environmental stewardship and the protection of public health.


What Youll Do

  • Perform and oversee VOA and SVOA analysis on environmental and quality control samples using EPA methods and laboratory procedures
  • Operate calibrate maintain optimize and troubleshoot GC/MS purge-and-trap and related laboratory instrumentation
  • Serve as the technical lead for troubleshooting analytical methods instrumentation data anomalies and complex laboratory issues
  • Review validate and approve analytical data calculations and laboratory documentation to ensure technical accuracy quality and regulatory compliance
  • Support method development validation optimization transfer and implementation
  • Lead investigations involving non-conformances method deviations quality concerns root cause analysis CAPA and corrective actions
  • Monitor instrument performance calibrations maintenance and quality control data to ensure reliable analytical results
  • Provide technical leadership mentorship and training on analytical methods instrumentation and laboratory best practices
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and support audits proficiency testing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Partner with laboratory leadership to improve workflow efficiency data integrity operational performance and turnaround times
  • Maintain compliance with laboratory safety requirements quality systems accreditation standards and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements

What Were Looking For

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry Environmental Science or a related scientific discipline
  • 5 years of progressive hands-on analytical laboratory experience performing VOA/SVOA analysis including operating maintaining troubleshooting and optimizing gas chromatographymass spectrometry (GC/MS) instrumentation
  • Demonstrated expertise in method development validation optimization troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving
  • Strong knowledge of EPA methodologies QA/QC requirements and environmental laboratory practices
  • Experience reviewing analytical data and laboratory documentation for technical accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to provide technical leadership mentorship and training within a laboratory environment
  • Previous experience with SOP authoring CAPA processes and corrective action investigations preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)

Work Schedule

  • Full-time onsite position
  • Flexibility to work overtime including evenings or weekends as needed to support operational demands
