Job Summary

Wiss is seeking an experienced Senior Assurance Associate to join our growing Assurance Practice in Florham Park NJ. This position will work closely with clients across the real estate industry taking a key role in executing audit and assurance engagements while developing strong technical client service and leadership skills.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Execute audit and assurance engagements for real estate clients from planning through completion.
  • Prepare and review audit workpapers financial statements and disclosures in accordance with GAAP and GAAS.
  • Perform audit procedures including testing of cash investments fixed assets debt revenue expenses and other significant accounts.
  • Gain exposure to real estate-specific accounting matters including property-level financials acquisitions and dispositions and partnership structures.
  • Evaluate internal controls and identify potential risks or areas for improvement.
  • Communicate directly with clients to obtain information resolve questions and support the completion of engagements.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating engagement activities to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Review work prepared by Associates and provide guidance and feedback as needed.
  • Develop strong client relationships while gaining exposure to a variety of real estate businesses.
  • Identify and communicate accounting or audit issues to engagement leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field required.
  • 3-4 years of progressive public accounting experience.
  • Real estate audit experience strongly preferred.
  • CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and GAAS.
  • Experience preparing and/or reviewing financial statements and audit workpapers.
  • Strong analytical organizational communication and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality client service.
