Job Summary

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Daher-parent company Kodiak Aircraft-local subsidiary (the ppl working there consider themselves Kodiak) Sandpoint Idaho

Base salary: $120000-$140000 plus an annual target bonus.

Onsite Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Individual contributor

Relocation: $25000-$35000 flat payment with the first paycheck depending on family size. Role provides subject-matter expertise and occasional mentoring with no people management.

Recruiting priority

Target a hands-on aerospace manufacturing engineer who has owned root-cause investigations implemented lasting solutions and improved aircraft production. The hiring manager specified 10 years of aerospace manufacturing experience.

What this person will own
  • Work alongside mechanics to resolve build problems and make manufacturing methods clear ergonomic and practical.
  • Improve sequencing work content and production flow across fabrication subassembly and final assembly.
  • Use CAD models and drawings for design-for-manufacturing (DFM) analysis. Create manufacturing prints or models traceable to type design and within fit form and function.
  • Build the case for type-design changes when manufacturing documentation alone cannot resolve an issue.
  • Reduce labor hours rework and bottlenecks through better methods tooling and ERP alignment; drive improvements through completion.
Required background
  • 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience with 10 years in aerospace per the hiring manager; direct knowledge of aircraft manufacturing.
  • Bachelors degree in Aerospace Mechanical Industrial Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
  • Root-cause investigation corrective-action implementation and Lean manufacturing experience.
  • ERP experience and engineering bill of materials (eBOM) management including eBOM/manufacturing BOM (mBOM) reconciliation and routings. The site is moving from Epicor to SAP.
  • Strong CAD drawing interpretation and GD&T per ASME Y14.5; DFM and manufacturing-specific documentation experience.
  • Hands-on understanding of machining sheet metal welding composites and mechanical or electrical assembly.

Preferred qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred; relevant certifications are valued.
  • General aviation or low-rate high-mix aerospace production experience.
  • Experience introducing manufacturing drawings or DFM practices to an existing product.
  • AS9100 or FAA/FAR Part 23 manufacturing exposure and supplier manufacturability or delivery problem-solving.
