Senior AI Engineer

About this role:

At Wells Fargo we are building enterprisegrade Generative AI capabilities that are secure scalable and deeply integrated into our business workflows. The AI Engineer plays a critical role in translating Generative AI strategy into productionready systems that operate at enterprise scale.

You will design and implement RetrievalAugmented Generation (RAG) pipelines agentic AI orchestration and shared GenAI services that power highvisibility enterprise programs such as DASH and other priority initiatives.

In this role you will:

• Lead or participate in complex initiatives on selected domains
• Assure quality security and compliance for supported systems and applications
• Serve as a technical resource in finding software solutions
• Review and evaluate user needs and determine requirements
• Provide technical support advice and consultation with the issues relating to supported applications
• Create test data and conduct interfaces and unit tests
• Design code test debug and document programs using Agile development practices
• Understand and participate to ensure compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
• Conduct research and resolve problems in relation to processes and recommend solutions and process improvements
• Assist other individuals in advanced software development
• Collaborate and consult with peers colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

Required Qualifications:

• 4 years of Specialty Software Engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience training military experience education
• 2 years of handson experience building and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
• 2 years of experience working with Generative AI systems including large language models.
• 2 years of experience in Python

Desired Qualifications:

• Proven experience designing and implementing RetrievalAugmented Generation (RAG) architectures using vector databases and retrieval frameworks.
• Experience building agentic AI or multiagent orchestration systems.
• Familiarity with enterprise AI governance model risk management and model lifecycle controls.
• Experience supporting enterprisescale GenAI platforms or shared AI services.
• Strong understanding of observability monitoring and performance optimization for AI workloads.
• Prior experience working in highly regulated environments; financial services experience is a plus.
• Experience deploying and operating AI solutions on cloud platforms (GCP AWS or Azure).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems APIs and microservices architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence engineering decisions across multiple teams.
