About the role

Exactera is scaling its finance function and is looking for a highly dependable Senior Accountant who combines strong USGAAP knowledge with a process-builder mindset and a high degree of personal accountability. This role is for someone who earns trust by delivering accurate work on tight schedules raising issues early and driving them through to resolution.

Exactera helps large multinationals manage complex tax work including transfer pricing R&D tax credits indirect tax and audit defense. We are evolving from a software-and-services business into an AI-native tech-enabled services company where technology performs more of the underlying work and experienced practitioners provide the judgment required for accurate defensible outcomes.

You will take ownership across the corporate accounting activities behind our P&L including cost of revenue operating expenses procure-to-pay payroll intercompany accounting and related balance sheet accounts. You will work in close partnership with both the Controller and Director of FP&A to ensure these areas are accurate well supported completed on schedule and connected to the operating performance of the business.

Working from clear finance-team priorities you will collaborate with colleagues to identify the processes and account areas that require stronger ownership diagnose where they break or fail to scale and take personal accountability for driving fixes through implementation. You will establish the structure controls documentation and operating cadence required for accurate repeatable execution.

This is a highly accountable role. You will work with the Controller Director of FP&A and broader team to achieve strong outcomes while taking personal responsibility for quality deadlines and complete follow-through. You take pride in getting the accounting right and leaving processes stronger than you found them.

AI is already part of how finance works at Exactera. We use Claude and ChatGPT to accelerate research analysis accounting documentation and reconciliation work; Ramp supports our procure-to-pay lifecycle; and Rillet is becoming our core ERP. Technology should make a strong accounting process better - not substitute for one.

You will report to the Director of FP&A and work in close partnership with both finance leaders. The Controller will be a core partner on US GAAP close execution controls and audit readiness; the Director of FP&A on priorities business context performance insights and cross-functional execution. This is currently an individual-contributor role with meaningful ownership
and room to grow.

What youll do

These five areas will define success during your first 12 to 18 months.

  1. Own and scale the procure-to-pay lifecycle.
    You will own the process from initial request through final payment identify breakdowns and manual handoffs and redesign workflows in Ramp for contracts purchase requests purchase orders approvals invoice processing coding payment runs and documentation.
    You will own vendor onboarding tax-document collection close-related accruals annual vendor reporting and the corporate card and expense program. Working with our AP Clerk and business partners you will establish clear procedures and practical purchasing expense and approval policies.
    You will also maintain timely bank reconciliations and support a reliable daily view of cash. The goal is a scalable well-controlled process that improves efficiency while maintaining appropriate review documentation segregation of duties and visibility into exceptions.
  2. Own payroll accounting and build service payroll economics.
    You will own the accounting and financial-control activities surrounding payroll while partnering with internal teams and payroll providers on execution.
    You will maintain earning codes department and product-line mappings allocation rules and appropriate cost classifications.
    Using US GAAP and an understanding of our business economics you will ensure payroll costs are recognized allocated and reconciled appropriately.
    You will strengthen the complete flow from accruals and estimated entries through actual postings allocations liability reconciliations and timely clearing of related balances while creating reliable monthly visibility by department product line and entity.
  3. Own intercompany accounting and policy execution.
    You will own the day-to-day processes supporting Exacteras intercompany and transfer-pricing policies including charges and cost allocations invoicing balance reconciliation settlements foreign-exchange adjustments and consolidation eliminations.
    In partnership with the Controller Director of FP&A and our tax advisers you will ensure our strategies are reflected consistently in the accounting records and supported by appropriate documentation. You will identify breakdowns resolve aging items and maintain support that is ready for audit or tax review.
  4. Own key close areas and strengthen the corporate accounting close.
    You will own key monthly and annual close areas across operating expenses and cost of revenue including accruals and cutoff prepaids and amortization accrued compensation fixed assets and depreciation lease accounting payroll intercompany activity and multi-currency remeasurement.
    You will apply US GAAP to record transactions accurately and in the correct period maintain high-quality balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules and research and document accounting conclusions when judgment is required.
    In partnership with the Controller and Director of FP&A you will identify breakdowns and drive improvements to the close calendar documentation reconciliations and follow-through on open items. You will coordinate with revenue accounting and deliver annual audit support for the areas you own.
  5. Own accounting execution in Rillet and optimize it after launch.
    We are replacing NetSuite with Rillet as part of the broader modernization of finance. Depending on hiring timing you may join during cutover or stabilization. You will own accounting execution across data mapping testing reconciliation documentation control design and post-launch optimization.
    You will use Rillet Ramp AI and other automation tools to make recurring work faster more scalable and more reliable while preserving appropriate review documentation and accounting judgment.

What success looks like

By the end of your first 12 to 18 months you will have delivered or materially advanced the following outcomes:

  • A dependable monthly close completed by business day 5 with timely well-supported reconciliations consistent resolution of open items and issues escalated before the deadline.
  • Accruals payroll accounting cost allocations intercompany activity and operating expenses accounted for consistently in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Accounting processes in your areas that are documented repeatable appropriately controlled and understandable to someone other than the person who created them.
  • At least 80% of in-policy invoices moving from intake through coding approval and payment without manual finance intervention with exceptions clearly routed in Ramp.
  • No unreconciled intercompany items older than 30 days with monthly balance agreement and timely settlement.
  • Audit and review support delivered on schedule organized easy to follow and requiring minimal rework.
  • Clear proactive partnership with both the Controller and Director of FP&A on priorities accounting judgments deadlines business implications and unresolved risks.

What were looking for

Required

  • 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience and a bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and hands-on experience with monthly close journal entries accruals and cutoff balance sheet reconciliations operating expenses and cost of revenue.
  • A demonstrated record of delivering accurate work under tight close reporting or audit deadlines; prioritizing effectively; and communicating risks early.
  • A high degree of accountability and pride in results. You work with the team to identify processes and account areas that need attention and take personal responsibility for driving them from diagnosis through durable resolution.
  • A strong auditability mindset. Your work is supported documented organized and capable of standing up to Controller and external-auditor review including when accounting judgment is required.
  • Proven experience owning and improving accounting processes finding where they break or fail to scale and building reconciliations controls and documentation that produce accurate repeatable results.
  • Experience across procure-to-pay payroll accounting and intercompany accounting ideally in a multi-entity environment.
  • Sound judgment around materiality cutoff classification accruals reconciliation differences and when an issue should be escalated.
  • The ability to partner effectively with both the Controller and Director of FP&A while remaining personally accountable for results plus strong Excel and modern-systems skills and an interest in finance automation.

Preferred

  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
  • Big Four or other public accounting experience.
  • Experience preparing accounting memos technical accounting analyses policies or audit documentation and responding directly to audit requests.
  • Experience in professional services technology-enabled services or another business where labor is a meaningful component of cost of revenue.
  • Multi-entity multi-currency or cross-border accounting experience including exposure to transfer-pricing arrangements.
  • Experience with NetSuite Rillet Ramp ERP migrations ASC 842 SQL APIs no-code automation or agentic workflow tools.
