Senior Accountant, Reinsurance

Our client a growing insurance organization is seeking an experienced Senior Reinsurance Accountant to join its accounting team. This role will primarily focus on reinsurance accounting supporting both new and existing reinsurance arrangements while ensuring accurate financial reporting strong internal controls and consistent accounting processes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation experience within insurance and/or reinsurance and an interest in improving and automating processes. This individual will work cross-functionally with accounting finance actuarial legal risk operations and other internal teams.

• Prepare review and reconcile periodic reinsurance settlement statements.
• Support monthly and quarterly close activities including journal entries account reconciliations and financial analysis.
• Validate data from internal systems and external reinsurers and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate documentation supporting settlements reconciliations and accounting assumptions.
• Review accounting results to ensure transactions are accurately recorded.
• Support the implementation and accounting treatment of new and existing reinsurance agreements.
• Identify opportunities to improve standardize and automate accounting processes.
• Partner with external reinsurers and cross-functional internal teams.
• Support audits regulatory reporting and ad hoc financial requests.
• Leverage technology automation and AI-enabled tools to improve reporting efficiency controls and scalability.

• Bachelors degree in Accounting required.
• CPA preferred.
• 35 years of accounting experience ideally within insurance reinsurance or public accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical reconciliation and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

Compensation:

• $90000$130000 base salary plus comprehensive benefits and potential incentive compensation.
