The Opportunity

We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Accountant in our Alameda California location supporting the Abbott Diabetes Care and Lingo divisions within the Corporate Financial Services (CFS) organization.

What Youll Work On:

  • Responsible for assigned month-end closing activities including journal entry preparation approval account analysis intercompany transfers and account reconciliations.

  • Provide guidance and support related to master data requests accounting compliance and reporting to business partners.

  • Provide guidance and support to our offshore team.

  • Responsible for preparation of annual federal and state tax packages

  • Ensure compliance with SOX internal controls Abbott Corporate and division/department specific policies and procedures.

  • Provide support for internal and external audits

  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for assigned activities

  • Operate independently be flexible in changing environment and challenge the status quo.

  • Support all Company initiatives and ad-hoc requests as identified by management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field is lieu of a degree additional years of experience may be considered.

  • 4 years relevant professional experience required or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required competencies.

  • Strong Microsoft skills including use of pivot tables vlookups and analysis of data using Excel

  • Requires knowledge of accounting regulations of operational accounting issues.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills as well as attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Multitasks prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large ERP system; SAP preferred

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced changing environment.

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

  • CPA preferred but not required

  • Ability to travel approximately 10%.
