Self-Contained CI Classroom Teacher

Hazel Park is seeking applicants for the position ofSpecial Education Teacher - Cognitive Impairment Endorsement (SE)serving High School students.

SPECIFICS

• 10-month Full-time Hazel Park Educational Association (H.P.E.A.) Position
• Hazel Park Educational Association (H.P.E.A.) Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule
• Reports to Building Principal

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Cognitive Impairment Endorsement (SE) required
2. Highly Qualified in accordance with No Child Left Behind Guidelines
3. Experience in providing instructional services to students who are certified Cognitive Impaired
4. Experience in developing Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans
5. The ability to write implement and monitor IEPs
6. Knowledge and/or understanding in consistent use of data to monitor student growth inform instruction and develop interventions
7. Experience in differentiated instruction Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports Systems and individualized programming options for students
8. Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum
9. Superior communication skills in writing and speaking with all levels of management and staff
10. Applicants must be able to show proof of a satisfactory criminal background check as defined by state standards

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide differentiated instruction to students on caseload
2. Evaluate and monitor student growth and develop targeted interventions
3. Maintain contact with parents of caseload students
4. Complete caseload monthly Medicaid Billing
5. Plan and participate in MET and IEPT meetings when appropriate
6. Consult communicate and collaborate with other professionals regarding specific students educational plans and programs
7. Adapt materials and activities according to students needs
8. Maintain records in accordance with professional standards federal and state guidelines and school district policy.
9. Prioritize and schedule tasks
10. Transition planning for Adult Transition students
11. Functional Curriculum for Moderate Cognitive Impaired students
12. Work Base Learning and Community Base Instruction
13. PBIS tiers of support
14. Support systems for young adults with Autism
15. Manage inventory of equipment assessments and supplies
16. CPI Training preferred
17. Direct and supervise the classroom paraprofessional
18. Other duties as assigned by administrator

Compensation:Accordance with the Salary Schedule - H.P.E.A. Contract
