POSITION:Security Guard / Receptionist
DEPARTMENT: Administration
LOCATION: Essex Community Center @ 175 Delancey St. and Rose Center @ 80 Pitt St.
REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager
SALARY:$40000 - $45000 (with a robust benefits package including 401k medical/dental/vision insurance)
START DATE: ASAP
SCHEDULE:Monday-Friday must be available between 9am - 5pm with possible evening and weekend hours for special events.
JOB SUMMARY:As the first point of contact for all visitors to 175 Delancey Street/80 Pitt the Security Guard / Receptionist provides a welcoming environment and a strong sense of safety for the community. The Security Guard / Receptionist is responsible for visitor management handling in-person and phone inquiries and receiving and distributing packages on a daily basis. Additionally the Security Guard / Receptionist will act as the liaison to NYPD and NYFD and to all internal stakeholders on matters related to safety security and emergency management.

- Previous youth-based/school/community center security experience
- Goodconflictmediationandpublicrelationsskills
- Excellentwrittenandverbalcommunicationskills
- Mustbeaself-starterwiththeabilitytoworkindependentlyandwithminimalguidance
- Previousexperienceworkingwithadiversepopulation
- Theidealcandidatemustbepersonableenergeticandenthusiastic
- Candidates must successfully complete the following: NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening;NewYorkStateClearanceReviewBackgroundCheck;three(3)Reference Checks; Physical with updated TB Test (Fees may apply)
- ValidCPR/AEDPro-certificationthrough a recognizedaccreditingbodypreferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greetvisitors/employeeswarmlyandprofessionallyuponenteringaddresstheir inquiries and direct them to the appropriate locations
- Logs medical or safety-related incidents
- Manageandmediateallconflicts
- Responds to all emergencies (i.e. medical unsafe areas trespassing altercations etc.)
- Controlstheflowoftrafficsothatonlyscheduled participantsareallowedinthe building or into appropriate program areas
- Maintainpositiverelationshipswithkeystakeholdersprogramparticipantsfamilies community members and program staff
- Keep the lobbyclearofunauthorizedpersonsincludingloiteringchildrenadultsor adolescents
- Aware of the daily agenda and schedule of the building
- Manageregistrationformsandprocessidentificationcardsforprogramparticipants(as needed)
- Monitoraccessandreviewsecurityfootageasneeded
- Otherdutiesasassigned
- Candidatemustbeabletositorstandforlongperiodsclimbstairsandliftormoveup50 lbs.
- Familiaritywiththelatestvisitormanagementsoftwareandsecurity-relatedtechnologyis a plus
- Must be able to obtain Certificates of Fitness as needed
