$20.07 - $23.24 Hourly


Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This position is represented by the Public Employees Local 71 and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.

DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation

HOURS OF WORK: Varies - 4 10s Monday through Sunday; 6:00 am - 4:30 pm

LOCATION: 1321 Lidia Selkregg Lane

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Example of Duties

The purpose of this position is to assist in the beautification of Anchorage parks and streetscapes and to maintain its natural resources. The gardener I position is the first level in the gardener classification series. This position generally performs routine gardening and landscaping under general supervision. The distinction between this level and other levels of gardener workers is based upon the level and complexity of duties performed and the degree of supervision received and exercised. This is a summer seasonal position that will be assigned to one or more zone areas to assist in flower bed preparation; in the maintenance planting irrigation of trees shrubs turf flower beds and hanging flower baskets; the cleaning and sanitation of the parks; and in general landscaping and maintenance of parks municipal facilities and roadways.
