Additional Qualifications

| Software - Demonstrates expertise with Microsoft MS Office Suite (Word Excel etc.) - Stata - SAS - Mplus - R | Skills - Documented leadership role in conducting and/or managing epidemiologic research with a focus on health measures and biospecimen collection. - In-depth knowledge of the epidemiology of tobacco use as well as the current state-of-the- science of the field. - Experience in health measures and biomarker analysis related to tobacco use and collection and proper handling and processing of health measures and biospecimen samples. - Publication record commensurate with experience. - Strong communications skills both oral and written. |
Statement of Work Details
Develops and assists staff implement policies and procedures related to the organizations scientific programs.
- Design and support analysis of questionnaires surveys protocols informed consent documents training manuals standard operating procedures SOPs and database management systems
- Provide epidemiologic leadership and technical expertise for the PATH Study Team at NIDA including but not limited to study design methods and collection of questionnaire data health measures and biological samples handling processing and analyzing biomarker data and statistical and analytic research methods pertaining to biomarker of tobacco exposure and/or harm 1
- Participate in and contribute to different aspects of the PATH Study Team through study planning decision-making problem-solving and strategic analysis 2
- Provide leadership on behalf of the NIDA PATH Study Team on data analyses and analytical reports and manuscripts particularly those related to biomarkers and health measures 3
Collects analyzes and creates scientific program information.
- Create both internal and external materials in the form of reports summaries emails website content video scripts newsletters and social media
- Develop periodic and special reports and procedures; search records and files the internet background materials and precedent references
- Review and summarize materials and data; gather and coordinate information for review; conduct data entry and file maintenance; edit and/or prepare text data and charts
- Analyze interpret communicate and document epidemiologic data and results
- Communicate research findings; disseminate public information; respond to relevant inquiries
- Conduct relevant literature reviews and collaborate on relevant research publications
Coordinates workshops and reports their outcomes.
- Prepare for a variety of information exchanges with public and private sector science colleagues working on research programs and policy related to research program priorities
- Attend review scientific in-house and various other meetings; provide minutes reports and self-directed analysis when requested
- Attend committees and report relevant programmatic and scientific information to Institute leadership
- Develop outreach strategies including determination of conferences that should be attended plans for press coverage and other outreach activities
- Plan organize and participate in technical meetings and consultations that convene diverse experts to advance key issues in scientific research
- Perform first pass reading tracking and evaluation of deliverables; coordinate materials and background information for advisory board meetings; prepare and distribute briefing packets for staff
Evaluates current scientific programs and determines if changes need to be made.
- Identify gaps in existing scientific knowledge and provide recommendations for future research efforts
- Analyze the scientific merit and the adequacy of current and projected research programs
Assists with analyzing current scientific programs and developing and proposing new initiatives.
- Advise senior project staff on scientific progress and study decisions
Collaborates with management and prepares reports to keep them updated on new and ongoing programs and activities.
- Provide advice to upper-level management on the latest published research findings and trends
- Collaborate with upper-level management staff on contract management activities associated with the program
Coordinates staff responsible for developing installing and maintaining scientific programs.
- Identify areas for collaboration within the division and independently implement said projects
Analyzes current policies and procedures and suggests and develops improvements.
- Prepare summaries and reports for staff review
- Analyze program activities to identify issues and develop recommendations for improvement
- Meet with staff on a regular basis to provide oral reports on the status of on-going projects and to receive new assignments
- Perform ongoing analysis of published research and the alignment of the basic research portfolio
Assists in preparing and developing future strategic plans.
- Manage and proposed research plans short and long-term goals and objects for research projects via development and tracking of project work plans
- Provide analyses of scientific planning evaluation and/or policy questions or proposals for consideration by staff
Prepares and provides educational materials to staff.
- Work with staff and awardee staff to plan and execute communications and training programs related to the data science programs
Works closely with management to develop new initiatives that further scientific research.
- Provide recommendations and guidance on planned related analyses
- Discuss directions and developing areas with leading authorities
- Facilitate communication and collaborative efforts with other NIH Institutes and Department agencies in assigned area of responsibility
- Stay abreast of relevant science and current research as well as relevant regulatory and policy-related issues
Uses scientific expertise to review grant proposals and Interacts with potential grantees to obtain additional information.
